I could get behind McCollum if that's the way it goes.
But I have two lingering concerns:
I welcome any response to ease my concerns.
- Can he recruit at the top level? Developing lower-rated talent is great, but to compete at the highest level, you've got to have a few top-notch guys coming in.
- Style of play. I caught one of Drake's recent games on the TV, and it was kind of jarring to see players slowly walking the ball up the court after a made basket on the other end. That said, at the end of the day, I'm more worried about being successful than any particular style of play. But fans would need to prepare themselves for something significantly different than what we are accustomed to.
I think he could recruit for the Big Ten, doubt it would be countless 5 start kids. This dude doesnt need 5 stars to win, I think he recruits to what he wants/needs and coaches the hell out of his kids. His style of play, I think he plays to what his roster dictates. The roster he has this year at Drake, he's playing the way he as to, to win games.
