I'm shocked, SHOCKED I SAY, that the award went to the Alabama player with lesser stats and impact.
Career achievement for Fitzpatrick. They weren't going to let him leave college without something.
He will get another award tonight. Why couldn't Jackson get the Thorpe? I was disappointed but it's all good. He's been fantatic for us.
Come on guys, he only had 6 fewer interceptions, 2 fewer TDs and 12 fewer passes defended. The other poster was right, that was a career achievement award. Ridiculous.
It would have been really cool to see the ex Iowa DB, Bob Stoops hand the trophy to JJ. I really thought when they had him do the award that was the set up. Oh well, hell of a year for Josh. Maybe this will bring him back for one more season.
So if Jackson does in fact come back next year he is a shoe in for the award no matter what his stats are? Maybe this is a blessing in disguise and gives him a reason to come back? If bama player got benefit of "lifetime achievement" wouldn't it be impossible not give it to Jackson if he does in fact return?
Everyone also notice how they don't put up player stats at all, probably to avoid allowing people to come to the glaringly obvious conclusions of who deserves the awards.

outside of Hawkeye games, i have maybe watched a handful of other games. I noticed last year I was watching less and less college ball (and football all around).
A handful of years ago or so you couldn't pry me off the couch on football saturdays.
Between college football being a popularity contest and priorities changing, football has just become something I turn on when I am relaxing and i find nothing else on the tv
biggest joke in awards history there, Bob took the middle of the field out of play for offenses, other teams coaches even talked about having to totally re scheme game plans because of the Hitman . Only thing funnier were the Colts fans who were upset with getting Him in the 2nd rd , Few years later they were worshipping Him.
