Boomers are so hilarious

The question running through my head this week - who the hell is going to rebuild all these houses in California once Trump deports 3 million Mexicans?

After the small F1 tornado we had in our neighborhood last summer, about 20 houses got new roofs and EVERY SINGLE worker appeared to be a relatively recently arrived Mexican/central American.

I was at a tournament in Charles City this last weekend and was again reminded how many Spanish speakers there are in those smaller communities.

You think enrollments are declining now in rural Iowa wait until a significant portion of the younger kids are gone.

People in your age group had the highest voting margin for Trump. Just sayin’
This could likely be true but it was the next generation of voters that flip flopped from '20 that swung the election according to the experts. This of course was the cause of Torbee's diatribe to begin with...

Youth shift away from the Democrats

The youth vote, often seen as a vote staple for left-leaning parties across the western world, was its worst for the Democrats in this election, with data showing Kamala Harris leading Trump 52-46 within this demographic.

That six-point advantage compares to Biden's 25-point buffer over Trump in 2020, and Hillary Clinton's 18-point lead in 2016.

The Democrat advantage was also the smallest in the three Trump elections among the 30-44 voter group — just four points compared to the 12-point held by Biden.

What amazed me during those Jordan Klepper interviews of Trump supporters was how often the interviewee was a Baby Boomer.

I just can’t believe anyone who should remember the Bobby Kennedy or MLK assassinations could be so stupid.

One thing to remember, a generation or two down the road they will say the same thing about the older generations.

And the older generation will blame the decline of society on the younger generation. Never fails.

The best thing about boomer threads is anecdotal boomer stories.

The second best thing about boomer threads is boomer posters getting offended as if you just personally called them out.

Boomerism has become more of a mindset than just a simple age cohort, imo.

I said there are plenty of nice and responsible boomers.
It’s as a cohort that they are problematic.

I’m amused and surprised so many think this is some new observation of MINE and not something that’s been reported on, books written about and movies made about for decades.
You definitely didn't invent this. Boomers parents sacrificed everything for them. And in return, Boomers demanded their kids sacrifice everything to repay the debt.

Greatest Generation-Overrated

Silent Generation-Like GenX but not edgy

Boomers- “Old folks these days”

GenX-Tacitly Complicit in modern hellscape

Millennials-Sorta hard to spell, harder to like

GenZ/Alpha- “Kids these days”

One of the few things that never disappoints in life is a good ol thread dissin Boomers on HBOT. These threads ALWAYS deliver.

Because the Boomers are ultra defensive. Deep down they know how selfish, abrasive and destructive their generation has been.

Meh, they always want to pull the ladder up after them once they’ve plowed through resources. I suspect I won’t be seeing my Social Security payments until well past 70.

Boomers also gave us mass divorce and latchkey kids - the “ME” generation that let us Gen Xers grow up feral.
What’s the matter the with how we we raised in the 70’s and 80’s.
I’d say there are very few things better about growing up today.

Now, you must be thinking why these people are labeled as Baby Boomers?

The reason is, as per the stats, there was a notable boom in the number of births that occurred at that time. In the year 1946, which is also known as the 1st year of Boom, around 3.4 million babies were born in the US.

This boom was always witnessing four million babies born every year from 1953 to 1964, and after that, this baby booming trend started declining. However, till then in this time, around 76.4 million people were born in the US, which was one-fourth of the total US population.

For today’s businesses, targeting these people and converting them for some specific kinds of products and services is significant and that is why, businesses come up with the term Baby Boomers, and make particular strategies as per their characteristics.
