With as many bowl games as there are now, I would expect the NCAA to grant ISU and/or Nebby an exception, based on the cancelled games, if they are close. Primarily because they would travel better than a lower level MAC or some other smaller conference team ($$$$).

Didn’t Nebraska go to a bowl game recently with only 5 wins? Can’t remember if them or Notre Dame.

Somebody did; not sure if it was Nebra. That said, 6-5 would become more "impressive" than 6-6, should they be so lucky.

Yes, they got in a couple years ago at 5-7, which looks to be a fairly regular thing now that they have so many bowls.

No matter how many bowls are ‘tied’ to a conference, if there aren’t enough 6 win teams AND ANOTHER ‘lower’ conference has a QUALIFIED team, that other team will get a bowl bid. A 5-win team gets a bid once ALL 6-win teams have been slotted.

Ironic thing that year Nebraska, Minnesota and one other team were the 3 teams who made a bowl at 5-7 all 3 won their bowl game. Win your bowl and still finish the season under .500.

No such thing as “too much college football” so never “too many bowls”.
I’d rather they just went to a 13-game regular season; that way we could play more conference opponents. Shrink the bowl game schedule down by 30-40%. Teams who can’t at least finish above .500 don’t deserve to be rewarded.

Of course, they could always go the other direct and let any team be invited to a bowl game. It’s all about $$ anyway.

You're both right ~ give 'em 120 scholarships a team, and do BOTH ideas!

It won`t come into play. I am more concerned with it being our 10th or 11th win.

It's not just about the $$, in my opinion. A school like Iowa has an advantage the next spring/summer when you get those extra bowl game practices compared to Illinois. Winners get a leg up on the weaker teams with player development.

If there aren't enough 6 win teams, they'll get their chance.
They aren't gonna leap frog any 6 wins teams and they aren't gonna create the lightning storm bowl just for them.......

So we go 12-0 (including the league title game) instead of 13-0. Doubt if it will make much difference to the bowl people.
