I’d imagine most of the Iowa State players will play in its bowl game. On the flip side, I see Miami being gutted for the game. Transfer portal, leaving for the draft, sitting out cuz they’re pissed they didn’t make the playoffs, and an overall lack of interest in playing Iowa State (take a look at social media… there’s absolutely zero buzz out of Miami or its fans about playing ISU). That said, I see Iowa State winning this one big.

Wondering the same about Iowa - Missouri. Neither really had a chance at the playoffs, so other than a few star players (KJ, etc), I’m thinking a lot of starters will play. Or no? I’ll say Iowa by 4.

ISU likely won't have guys opting out but I think there will be some guys that won't play due to injury and just trying to let their bodies recover.

Honestly though does anybody actually care about these games anymore?
The answer is no. It’s a fun trip for the kids who had a decent season. But if it’s not the playoffs, it’s a glorified scrimmage. Biggest benefit is extra practice and development of younger players imo.

It's becoming fashionable to say "I don't care about bowl games any more", and that's fine. But I honestly believe it's disingenuous to state it's that way for all fans and all players.

Depends on the program, depends on the fan base, dep[ends on the individual.

Me personally, I care - and I hope the program does too. Beat the shit out of Missouri, please.

If a kid is jumping ship they have to do it in December portal. Those getting paid need to leave now.

No, not really. Hope you guys kill Miami though.

The upper tier bowl games will, have bigger attendance and more viewership than any NIT basketball game ever had. People still love to watch college football over the holidays, and there are a lot of huge fan bases whose teams aren't in the playoff.
More fans in a stadium than in an arena? Good point

ISU and Arizona State fans must not have thought much about the Big 12 title game either. 30,000 empty seats and the lowest attendance in the last 28 years.

Think this will just be the start of this trend. Spend your $’s on a conference championship game or a cfp game

Not selling out the home game to qualify for the championship game? When you haven’t had a championship since before WW1?
Not certain I get that one

True. I saw the BTCG packed with Oregon fans, and I couldn't help but wonder if any of those fans were also planning on a Rose Bowl trip, as well as a Cotton Bowl trip, followed by a Championship Game in Atlanta trip. That $ there is probably 4-5 years worth of season tickets, if not more. How many people have the $ and the time off of work needed for that kind of indulgence? Even if it were Iowa, which would be a once-in-a-lifetime thing, I don't think would be able to pull off more than 2 of those games, and that includes a short drive to Indy and free tix for BTCG. Attendance at these games might get very interesting in the coming years, especially with college football attendance dropping overall across the board.

Prob had more to do with neither school knowing they were going to be in until 1am Sunday. It's an 11 hour drive from Ames to Dallas, a 15 hour drive from Tempe to Dallas. To put it in perspective, it's 5 hours from Iowa City to Indianapolis. Plus it was only 24,000 empty seats ;).

Saw tickets for $17 for the BTCG, where were those when I went? lol

One factor in that is probably thaty it’s the first time that no Texas or Oklahoma team was playing.

Yes, people still care and expect to win them.

I must just be weird then.

I kind of offered to just stay at the VRBO and hang with the younger kids, and let my wife go with our friends and the older kids. She got a little mad at me because she said the seniors have given us a lot and deserve our support. I kind of do not expect to win against Miami, at all.

You probably just have a sour taste in your mouth from Saturday. Once that game rolls around, you’ll be excited to see your guys trot out there one more time this year.

What’s the point spread in ISU vs Miami game?

You're not wierd, you're just an Iowa State fan.

ISU's championship game was September 7th. Good turn out and maybe their best game of the year.

At least Iowa won't have Deacon Hill as the QB for the bowl game.

Players playing in bowl games have 5 days after their last game (bowl) to enter the portal. They are not set on December 28th if their bowl game is later.
