Been an Iowa fan for well over 60 years, will always pull for Iowa teams but will never , ever pull for ISU, all sports, men and women. I feel strongly you are not a true Iowa fan if you ever root for ISU.

Disagree wholeheartedly. The thing about ISU is they’ve always been so far below us football wise for so long, that they really don’t bother me. And Iowa men’s basketball has been so far behind ISU in that same time frame (since say 2000) that’s it not really a rivalry either. Don’t really give them much thought, but pull for them to do well, just like UNI and Drake. Maybe it’s just fun to push people’s buttons that hate ISU people so much, not saying that’s you. They are probably the same people that swear allegiance to Kirk and Brian Ferentz.

Right — take away FOUR BLUE BLOOD PROGRAMS and the Big 10 is pretty similar to the Big XII (Washington was in the CFP championship game just last year and will be back, as will USC). The Big Ten is dramatically stronger football conference than the Big VII. It’s really not debatable.

These idiots got blasted by Texas Tech and KU and they legitimately thought they were playoff worthy and not only worthy but could go on a run, just the dumbest fan base in all of college football.
Despite Iowa having played in the west - they still had to face blue blood programs. Not to mention they beat a highly ranked Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State while they played in the west. You guys NEVER have to play any blue blood programs ever. The Big 12 will never come close to winning a NC, he’ll they couldn’t even win one under the four team playoff format when they had OU and Texas.
Just be thankful Kirk gifted your program a (pathetic) 10 win season for the first time in program history and you dodged all the top teams in the conference to even make the title game. Iowa State had a horseshoe up their ass this season much like their Covid year and I look forward to them coming crashing back down to reality next season.
Iowa State will be fine. Anything they are are subjected to, so will their competition. They are in a good place to compete for championships and playoff appearances annually and that will help with their recruiting.
I never understood the tavern hawk thing. Wouldn't a school want the folks who didn't go to college to be their fans? Especially in a state with no pro sports. I mean you are an agricultural land grant school literally in the middle of a cornfield. The tavern hawk thing seems sorta like you have some sort of delusion you are a blue blood and only allow ISU graduates to be fans.

There will be a day when Kirk retires and a new fan favorite is hired. When the Hawks flounder, I'll smile thinking about all the posters who called for Kirk's head. I have been fortunate to have watched a lot of great wins under Kirk and Hayden. Expansion of the conference, NIL, 105 schollies and profit sharing will be the end of college football. I have become more disinterested in the CFP every year.

While true, at least Iowa had to actually beat a good team to win it every time. Think about all the teams we lost to and compare them to what ISU lost to this year (COVID year doesn't count). ASU isn't bad but they're just an above average team in the grand scheme of things. Probably the best representative from the B12 but that really isn't saying much.
I love the clown nickname "Tavern Hawk" made up by a fanbase that doesn't have fans outside of Story and Boone county and can't comprehend that: A.) People can be fans of a team at a school they didn't attend. B.) The Iowa Hawkeyes always have been and always will be this State's team.
