Bowl Scenario for Iowa

I think Iowa has two different scenarios

Wisconsin wins Big Ten Championship I really believe they will go to college football playoffs with the Miami loss this weekend . That will allow Ohio State and PSU to take two spots in the top 6 bowls and everyone moves up a notch.

CFP - Wisconsin

Cotton Bowl- PSU

Fiesta Bowl- Ohio State

Citrus Bowl Michigan State

Outback Bowl Northwestern

Holiday Bowl Michigan

Music City Bowl Iowa

Pinstripe Bowl Purdue

I think if Ohio State wins then only two teams make the top 6 bowls and Iowa falls to Pinstripe.

I would hate for Iowa to go to Pinstripe, that would be a disaster as I believe no one would go.

Would the Outback Bowl pick Northwestern over Michigan?

Assuming they pick before the Holiday Bowl.

Big ten much more likely to get three in Top 6 bowls if OSU wins. 10-2 PSU and 12-1 Wisconsin likely in Top 11. 10-3 OSU might be in danger of dropping below #11 (or dropping to #11 and taking PSU with them)

I actually think you have your logic backwards.

Wisconsin is already a lock for the NY6, and Penn St is practically a lock. I think Ohio St needs to win the B1G or else they'll be in danger of falling to the Citrus, especially if TCU wins the Big 12 title game and ND beats Stanford.

My thoughts are that Iowa is most likely going to the Pinstripe, unless Northwestern blows today's game at Illinois (they are struggling at the time I type this). That would bump them up to Music City. The Purdue loss put Iowa in this position; otherwise I'd already be making hotel reservations in Nashville.

Does an 11-2 OSU have any chance of the CFP if they beat Wisconsin?

I think they do. If Auburn beats Bama Id bet they both get in the CFP and no chance for OSU.

No. Northwestern played there two years ago.

However, the Holiday Bowl could be choosing between MI and NW. Of course, with the current contract, the B1G has as much say in bowl placement as the bowls themselves, so with NW having a better conference record, a win vs. MSU (only common opponent with different result), and being in the CFP rankings, I have a feeling that they will be headed to San Diego (with a win vs. IL).

Music City! Hopefully a caravan of buses and carloads headed for Nashville. Great music, food and cooler weather for our Hawks to play at their best. Let's see if the Hawk fans can drink the town dry!

On the plus side it would be a winnable game for Iowa, maybe. Probably. Possibly.

tOSU has a problem at 3 losses because two of them were ass-whippings, one at home and one by an unranked team late in the season.

There is no more picking like you are thinking anymore. But, the Big 10 also has a ton more say where teams go not to mention limits to how often teams can go to the same bowl games. It wouldn't suprise me to see Northwestern go to the Outback.

Cooler Weather? You realize it's Tennessee not Florida. Tennessee gets fairly cold in the winter and Nissan stadium is a ****hole compared to other NFL stadiums. Either way it would be better then NY.

Music city bowl is nothing to be proud about. Would rather go to Detroit and sit in a weather controlled stadium against an opponent Iowa might actually win against then freeze my ass off in Nashville in December watching Iowa **** the bed against a crappy SEC opponent.

It is a great city but there is a shortage of rooms, so book rooms as soon as you can.

I booked three rooms for four days for our family in the Opryland Hotel the day after Purdue. BTW we love Nashville. The trick is to commit to pay an extra five or six bucks a night for the privilege of cancelling up until December 24. See you in Nashville (I hope)

If Iowa goes to Nashville, I'm going to seriously think about taking my family there. Hmmmm....

Heard Barta talk last week and he seemed to be laying the groundwork for fans to accept the Pinstripe.

Got the same vibe. Acknowledged how great the Music City bowl would be for the fans, but talked up Christmas in New York and how staying in New Jersey was affordable.

<<...and how staying in New Jersey was affordable>>

So is staying in a hovel outside Mexicali. Doesn't mean it's a desirable bowl trip...

Hoping for Music City against Kentucky and Mark Stoops. Hopefully they can sell that angle ;)

I've seen 2 projections today that had us in the Pinstripe Bowl. One had us playing Boston College the other vs NC State.

TK posted a picture of the pinstripe bowl on the home page..not sure if it means anything

ESPN has us vs Wash St in Foster Farms or music city vs Texas AM

I will admit. I actually think that NYC in December would be cool. But I really like NYC and think seeing the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center and all of the Christmas lights would be awesome. That said, I don't think I can make it to any of them anyway.

Iowa just needs to win a bowl game at this point. Whichever game provides them with the better match up is what I'm for. Usually I care about going to a better game, but this year is different after the past 3 a%$ whoopings.
