It's true. Story in the Press-Citizen. Here's the link: https://www.press-citizen.com/story...n-ferentz-joining-maryland-staff/73471201007/

I wonder how Maryland is selling that hire? And I wonder what, exactly, a "Senior Offensive Assistant" does, especially one who just completed two of the worst seasons on record as an OC in the BIG. I also wonder what such a job pays . . . BTW, Iowa plays @ Maryland on Nov. 23.

Brian will do fine in his future coaching endeavors. He just did not have the inherited ability to be an offensive coordinator He did fine coaching lineman, and must have ability as was the tight end coach for the Patriots in the Super Bowl run

Makes sense. His offense at Iowa specialized at turtleing into it's shell. Especially at the end of games

Doubt they even give him a whistle to wear around his neck.

This is a good move for Brian for a lot of reasons:

1) It dispels the notion that he will only get hired by his dad or one of his dad's cronies, thus it shows Brian knows a thing or two about college football.
2) It's a P4/P5 job, and he didn't have to step down a level.
3) That's a pretty experienced coaching staff, so he's going to learn a few things and gain some healthy perspective on different ways to run an offense and a program.
4) The head coach, all three coordinators, and a majority of the staff are Black. For Brian, given the history of the lawsuit, that will really help him, to work with some guys who can vouch for him and let others know that he isn't a racist, assuming he forms some good relationships out there in Maryland.
5) It's far away from the Iowa City fishbowl.

I wish him the best of luck.
