Brian Kelly -- peak cringe

Seriously - it can happen. You hear a word like "family" 5 or 6 times and your brain might mimic it.

Not defending Kelly at all. I've had it happen to me in a single conversation with someone with an accent.
The strongest southern accent I’ve ever heard was from a German foreign exchange student who had been living in eastern Arkansas for a week.

As I recall there is a linguistic pattern known as "style shifting", in which people will quickly pick up local words and phrases to quickly fit in. It happened to me when I move to the South, and when I moved back to Iowa I consciously fought rid myself of some of them.

Brian Kelly is 60 years old and spent the last 11 years
at Notre Dame. He made the College Football Playoffs
3 times, however he never won the Championship. The
move to LSU was based on his need to hit the financial
jackpot before retirement.

Spent two weeks down in Baton Rouge many years ago. Was talking full blown Cajun by the end of it. Kidding, but not really, definitely caught myself picking up on the local accent.

What an idiot. The whole country is making fun of him. It's everywhere. I can't stop laughing.

Weird. I guess it helps him fit in,.
It’s funny though, pretty much anywhere else in the world a southern accent is looked down upon.

If he doesn’t win right away they won’t give his phony a$$ any extra time.

100% agree with this..

but at the same time I did laugh.
And she recognized and apologized, so good on her. Move forward.

She had a cup of coffee with the gazette on the hawkeye beat, came across as a reporter with an agenda. Was nice to see her move on. She's young though, lots of time to improve, she may be a great one in several years.
