We know they are good people. But it's time to retire from coaching.
Similar to what LSU is doing, the Swarm should partner with the Ferentz’s on a new campaign in which every dollar donated to the Swarm over a certain timeframe is matched on a dollar-to-dollar (or more) basis with a Ferentz family donation to the hospital. It would be a win-win situation, and it would help silence cynics (like me) who say people should donate to the hospital instead of the Swarm.
How about you just donating to both then you can sleep better.
Matching fund initiatives can work well in fundraising. In our case, it doesn’t have to be Ferentz or anyone affiliated with the program. If I had $1 million to donate, I would match $1-for-$1, up to $1 million, in a pre-defined timeframe. It encourages skin, rewards all donors (small to large), and makes the organization work to get the word out.

There is a lot if “sloppy” journalism here….By rule, coaches cannot donate directly to this but can if they use a “back door” method of contribution. However, that would not raise eyebrows and create more “noise”….you honestly believe the LSU assistant is the only coach donating this way… The journalistic verbiage just catches eyeballs and allows people to think” no wonder LSU gets so many talented footballers!”! It’s all bullshit when analyzed.
How about you let people decide for them selves where they should aim their charity? Perhaps local charities through local organizations, for homeless, at risk teens and food banks. My church is involved in numerous such worthwhile projects who are way more in need of help them a bunch of spoiled high school athletes. MAYBE if priorities were focused differently, people could "sleep better"....

BTW IMO if you keep donating to homeless shelters and food banks you are simply empowering the recipients to never seek being self-sufficient Rather than always having a handout they should be reaching for a broom or a shovel and get a J - O - B.
And what, the entitled high school athletes have done WHAT exactly too be coddled with millions of $. I'm all for putting people to work and not handouts from the State or Feds. Were talking about people who really do need some help. My church donates to a facility called Steppingstones. Its a home for adolesants and young teens who are too young too be on their own or on the street. Young people who have been displaced from family or foster care, whatever. Many are too young to work actual jobs. Your right though lets give the money to high school football payers and transfers who will also benefit from the upcoming rev share with the networks 20+ million $, on top of their free 100K plus education. I'd say that as a society we have our priorities so ASS backwards it's past time for a serious rethink, but I won't waste my breath in your case. You make it plain where your priorities lay....
We have multi-generational welfare families, we're talking all the way from cradle to crave, welfare is all they know, and they expect it as a right not a privilege
I don't begrudge helping out adolescents or young teens who would otherwise be left on their own on the mean streets of the ghetto.
I do have a problem with welfare mommas, welfare daddies, people who have children just in order to get more free money via the system.
We have to seriously rethink our welfare system in America, we now have foreigners streaming into this country because they heard they get free everything once in America.

Your posts have morphed into a totally different argument. I've NEVER been for welfare, per say. I think ways could be found for recipients to do some meaningful work for what they get, and thus also be taxpayers. We were talking about charity through church or other means for needy vs giving money to athletes to play football for your school, which I just don't understand, (especially given the millions coming at them in the future). I'll stick with what I think is the more worthy endeavor, as I'm sure you will do as well....
