Dude should just go back to coaching the OL.
Problem is it probably doesn't cover his $1m house payment.
Problem is it probably doesn't cover his $1m house payment.
And I also read that they were not at all happy with Polasek as his replacement...I read a while back that the folks at NDSU were happy to see him go.
As is every farmer's son in the state of Iowa, get over it.The only reason he’s still getting opportunities as a coach is because of his dad’s shadow. Let’s be honest, Coaching is still a “good ol boys” club for the most part. BF is still and always will be a nepo baby.
It's not a great city, but it's not far from Yosemite and Lake Tahoe. Some of the most beautiful locations in the world.Iowa City to Fresno is going to be a huge culture shock for young Ferentz and his family.
Not a terribly nice place to be.
He has a $1M house payment? wow. maybe a $1M 30 year mortgage huh?Dude should just go back to coaching the OL.

"It was 49th his first year then dropped to 67th."he was run game coordinator 2015-16, they were pretty good
Question is, will the family move to Fresno. Looks like his salary will be around $100K. His time as OC at Iowa was not good but he is a diehard Hawk, so I wish him well. Best of luck to him and his family. Too bad there are those on our board that can't let it go.He has a $1M house payment? wow. maybe a $1M 30 year mortgage huh?
Golly Gee Brian. You tried really hard and had fun as offensive coordinator. That should be enough for everyone.Question is, will the family move to Fresno. Actually Fresno is probably a lot like Iowa City. It's in central California, which is farm country. A lot of vegetables and nut farms. It's not the prettiest location in California, but you can drive to Yosemite and a few skiing locations not far away. I don't know how old (or if he has any) his kids are, but that would probably have an impact on his family relocating.Question is, will the family move to Fresno. But Fresno really isn’t a university town. Iowa City is more like Davis or even Berkeley.Actually Fresno is probably a lot like Iowa City. It's in central California, which is farm country. Seems like a heck of a stretch for a comparison but since you went there at least the farmer's son actually works and gains experience as a farmer before being put in a postion of great responsibility. As is every farmer's son in the state of Iowa, get over it.
And if he or she was terrible at farming, you wouldn’t think mom or dad would just let the entire farming operation crater, like Kirk did (and was going to continue to do) with Brian.Seems like a heck of a stretch for a comparison but since you went there at least the farmer's son actually works and gains experience as a farmer before being put in a postion of great responsibility.
This. Much of his coaching prowess is overstated"It was 49th his first year then dropped to 67th."
59th in average yards per carry in 2015, 65th in 2016
my criteria of 'pretty good' is different than yours. Unless you are basing it on being better than when he was OC.
Nepotism is nepotism & I'd argue Brian's time playing & coaching various positions actually qualify as "work & experience". He didn't just jump off the turnip truck now did he?Seems like a heck of a stretch for a comparison but since you went there at least the farmer's son actually works and gains experience as a farmer before being put in a postion of great responsibility.
Fair enough, but Fresno State is a big part of the identity of the area. And if you were not aware UC Davis is a big agricultural school. It's the Iowa State of California. Berkeley & Palo Alto (Stanford) are the big lib schools for sure. But Fresno really isn’t a university town. Iowa City is more like Davis or even Berkeley.
Watch as Fresno State's fortunes rise while Iowa's continue to fall. That's right folk. Still stinking mad about the whole deal, like any real Hawkeyes fan should be.![]()
Report: Former Iowa offensive coordinator Brian Ferentz to join Fresno State’s football coaching staff
Ferentz was Iowa’s offensive coordinator for seven seasons at Iowa before spending the 2024 season as an offensive analyst at Marylandwww.thegazette.com
At least we beat Nebraska a vast majority of the time. We haven't "continued to fall" that far....Watch as Fresno State's fortunes rise while Iowa's continue to fall. That's right folk. Still stinking mad about the whole deal, like any real Hawkeyes fan should be.
Good for him. Now go EARN it the way your dad did and the way most coaches have to by achieving success and then climbing the ranks from there.
I have a feeling he is better at his job than many of you guys criticizing him, pretty sure that is true.This. Much of his coaching prowess is overstated
Has NDSU become the Nebraska of FCS? Well, apart from the fact that they still win a lot and compete for Championships. And I also read that they were not at all happy with Polasek as his replacement...
I love reading things...
That photoshopped red tie is slowly becoming legendary in and of itself!
A lot of people on here are historically bad at their job?!?I have a feeling he is better at his job than many of you guys criticizing him, pretty sure that is true.
Absolutely correct. Brian is gonna be just fine and will only build from here not unlike anyone else who has lost a job. Reposition and forge ahead. The ankle biters hate him and despise his income potential especially compared to theirs - bitter envy rules the day.I have a feeling he is better at his job than many of you guys criticizing him, pretty sure that is true.
Just wait until Fresno State is in the CFP in 2027.At least we beat Nebraska a vast majority of the time. We haven't "continued to fall" that far....
His reign scarred us.Question is, will the family move to Fresno. Looks like his salary will be around $100K. His time as OC at Iowa was not good but he is a diehard Hawk, so I wish him well. Best of luck to him and his family. Too bad there are those on our board that can't let it go.
I live in NorCal, so I am aware of Davis being an ag school, although they have strong liberal arts plus good professional schools. Davis is a liberal university town. You’re right, though, that Fresno State football is a big deal there.Fair enough, but Fresno State is a big part of the identity of the area. And if you were not aware UC Davis is a big agricultural school. It's the Iowa State of California. Berkeley & Palo Alto (Stanford) are the big lib schools for sure.

I loved it when he said he was no expert on the QB position right before his dad made him the QB coach.I have a feeling he is better at his job than many of you guys criticizing him, pretty sure that is true.
If I were as bad at my job as Biff was at his from ‘21-‘23, I would be out of the industry for good. My guess is that nobody on this board was historically bad at their job for 3 years; that’s not a luxury for normal people.I have a feeling he is better at his job than many of you guys criticizing him, pretty sure that is true.
