Report: Former Iowa offensive coordinator Brian Ferentz to join Fresno State’s football coaching staff
Ferentz was Iowa’s offensive coordinator for seven seasons at Iowa before spending the 2024 season as an offensive analyst at Maryland

Something he was decent atRun game coordinator.
Decent at?!? Did you watch Iowa football from 2021 to 2023?? It doesn’t get any worse running the ball than that. And we had stud running backs.Something he was decent at
Good for him. He might be better as a coach when he isn't living in his father's shadow.![]()

I am happy BF left, but our OL was absolutely brutal. I blame him more as a coach with a non-engaging personality to attract recruits and not trying to make some adjustments to overcome the bad OL.Decent at?!? The only reason he’s still getting opportunities as a coach is because of his dad’s shadow. Let’s be honest, Coaching is still a “good ol boys” club for the most part. BF is still and always will be a nepo baby.Good for him. He might be better as a coach when he isn't living in his father's shadow.
It’s a big reason why many argue for lack of opportunities for minority coaches. A lot of truth to it. One of the worst OCs in history of modern football getting second chances at FBS level. The only reason he’s still getting opportunities as a coach is because of his dad’s shadow. When our offense has fully recovered from the depths of the Brian Ferentz era, I’ll move on!Yay! Let's do another Brian dog pile more than a year after the fact.
Yay! You clicked on this thread and responded just so everyone would know how unhappy you are with this thread.Yay! Let's do another Brian dog pile more than a year after the fact.
Good for him. I think he will do well.Run game coordinator.

To be fair, a string of bad luck with injuries and players retiring early decimated our OL. Several were four star recruits.I am happy BF left, but our OL was absolutely brutal. And to be fair Brian had no idea how to game plan for this, so he kept running the same scheme and plan for way too long. Lester would have schemed for a mobile quarterback like Lainez to move the pocket and run, because we all know not one quarterback could throw the ball in 2022 or 2023 nor could we protect them even if they could throw. Instead we just kept doing the same damn thing. Incredible. To be fair, a string of bad luck with injuries and players retiring early decimated our OL. Several were four star recruits.
People want to overlook the facts. We had some really nice looking recruits who never saw the field due to injury, and then Wirfs, Lindy, and another tackle left a year early. Would have been an entirely different OL....To be fair, a string of bad luck with injuries and players retiring early decimated our OL. Several were four star recruits.
And it would have been the same old Brian Ferentz too, unfortunately.People want to overlook the facts. We had some really nice looking recruits who never saw the field due to injury, and then Wirfs, Lindy, and another tackle left a year early. Would have been an entirely different OL....

I appreciate you'all trying to be nice, but Iowa (like every other program) has dealt with injuries and player attrition forever, but they have never had the dog-sh*t offense that KF/BF ran out there from '21-'23. The BF as OC (and especially as QB coach) experiment was an absolute and total fail and there is just no sugar-coating it.People want to overlook the facts. Not the kickers?Fresno Guy told Me He will be Coaching TEs as well
I'm really not trying to sugar coat anything. Still if your saying that the best Tackle AND center to ever play at Iowa and losing Kallenburger a year early had nothing to do with issues on the offense, I just don't agree. Then there were several 4 star lineman (mostly tackles we really needed) who never saw the field. Dan Doering for one was recruited by everyone including Michigan, and never saw a meaningful snap. All of this happened in a relatively few years. Yes, all teams have issues, but Iowa doesn't have the depth of 4 and 5 star level players to cover up those losses in one VERY important position group like the top schools do.I appreciate you'all trying to be nice, but Iowa (like every other program) has dealt with injuries and player attrition forever, but they have never had the dog-sh*t offense that KF/BF ran out there from '21-'23. Throw in not getting Proctor twice also.People want to overlook the facts. We had some really nice looking recruits who never saw the field due to injury, and then Wirfs, Lindy, and another tackle left a year early. Would have been an entirely different OL....
I still think BF would make a very good HC someday somewhere. He is better suited at running a program than as an offensive guru.I appreciate you'all trying to be nice, but Iowa (like every other program) has dealt with injuries and player attrition forever, but they have never had the dog-sh*t offense that KF/BF ran out there from '21-'23. He is 41, if he wanted to be a head coach, he would have already done so. He might be a decent HC but doesn’t appear that is what he wants.I still think BF would make a very good HC someday somewhere. He is better suited at running a program than as an offensive guru.
Correct, they were a fun watch and produced some high level NFL players but the diabetes finally overtook Brimley and the program fell into disrepairFresno St wasnt good this year
They used to have a nice program there
