That's a bad deal, as Brock certainly would have threatened for AA status. That's what I fear of Cory Clark with his unorthodox flexibilty. With that being said, that but all ELIMINATES the Cowpokes from title contention. Damn.
I wanted to see more of this kid this year. Big move on Smith's part to pull his shirt. Odd to me that Brock's injury will impact the decision on Jo Jo's shirt, if true as Mike said.
I re-read your post Mike. I don't think you're saying that Brock's injury is the reason for the high degree of confidence that Jo Jo will go for them this year. I stand corrected.
I will be shocked if he doesn't get the medical RS. This is the exact situation that this rule was meant for, right?

Like to see him keep getting better and hit the ground running next year. He is a great kid. I know okie state but have like John and his family for years. Great ambassadors for the sport and fun to watch wrestle.

Did you get your info from the Okie State rivals board? 1 person posted something about him being out 4-6 months but it has hardly been confirmed.
Mike seems to be one of the closest fans to the team when he throws something out there it usually is true or happens
He can't get a medical redshirt because he already redshirted and for him to get a medical waiver for a 6th year he'd have to miss another season due to injury
I'm sure Brewer is letting out a sigh of relief! Sucks for Brock, would've liked to have seen him up against a very deep 133lb field at nationals. Mike notice nobody on this board is excited about Okie St being less of a factor at nationals due to an injury. Not like you were when Nevills got injured. 
Yeah, it's hard to digest b/c Nevills' RS year also was ended with a Scuffle injury.
As an outsider... this is ass backward. To my thinking, you pull JoJo's shirt as an addition to the likely points you projected from a healthy Brock. Without Brock... you're merely replacing those points. OSU wasn't the new favorite just because of Brock's projected finish.
I hate to hear that. Kid is a true talent and can make a splash immediately. With him injured I would think that would be a better reason to keep the shirt on JoJo, but I guess they have enough firepower to make a run this year with Heil, Ringer and Crutchmer too.
Brock is a true freshman so his redshirt request will be for a 5th year of eligibility. There are very clear rules for that in terms of when he participated and how many times he participated and he meets those guidelines with ease. He will have zero issue getting a redshirt for this season.
Grothus or Nevillis would (potentially) be in a completely different situation where they would be asking for a 6th year. That's where the 1+ year missed due to injury provision kicks in. (By the way, the NCAA has become more lenient. Missing 2 years used to be the standard but that went out the window long ago. There are no hard and fast NCAA rules about 6th years.)
Thats exactly how I was looking at this too. With Kaid being a possible AA I would have pulled JoJos to get what appears AA points from him as well. Kaid gets hurt then Id keep JoJo on the shelf. IMO they need both guys to have a chance at PSU or tOSU so pulling JoJos is pretty dumb. Being a Hawkeye i hope John pulls his shirt because it will get his kids clock started and besides we dont have a 157 AA contender (lets be honest folks!) so might as well let Nolf and JoJo bang their heads against Imar and we can sit back and enjoy.
I have the team race as PSU and tOSU (assuming Snyder, Myles Martin and H.Striebler in lineup) as #1 or 2. Flip flop either way.
Then a small gap with Iowa and OK St being 3rd/4th either way. Ok St with pulling both Kaid and JoJo could have closed that small gap and been up with the PSU/tOSU. Iowa would need Brody to be what we hope to close that gap . We shall see but losing kaid now has me putting Iowa in 3rd all by itself and Ok st having to fight more for 4th than 1st now.
Big blow to the cowboys but I wont lose too much sleep, Kaid will get his redshirt now just like Logan Stieber did.

With Brock going down I think they had no choice. Chance M just doesn't look good at 57. I expect him to be such better next year at 65. I think coach Smith really was hoping Chance could make it happen this year and leave the shirt on JoJo.
