Simply ran out of gas. PSU has been incredible(excepting Altons) keeping incredible conditioning all season long. I am interested to see what happens a when everyone else is peaking in March. Not to say all will have equal gas tanks but I would bet many will be considerably better than they were in season.

That said, your assertion that he "gave up" does not give Nickal any credit at all for one of his strengths; he's a phenomenal scrambler.
Credit to Nickal for winning the scramble, but once he did, Brunson totally quit.
Penn State under Cael has a miserable history of peaking too early. I can't think of the last time they wrestled well in March ...
I never said PSU doesn't have it in March. in fact, I said they do it all season long. My point was that other teams don't and many wrestle to peak in March. I absolutely don't think Brunson flops at the end of that match if it was in March and Martinez wouldn't be wobbly legged in the 2nd.

I was at the meet and it looked like Brunson got hurt in the scramble. He just froze and I can't believe he was that tired instantly. He also took a long time getting up and looked to be trying to hide an injury as he walked off the mat. All subjective on my part, but he was going to lose the scramble and give up the takedown, but it did look like he got hurt also.
To be fair this is Carls 2nd team. His first teams were carried by Ruth, Wright, and some felon.
My post wasn't about giving Nickal credit for the scramble. It was about Brunson quitting after losing the scramble. If you need gratituitous credit give to your wrestlers to feel good about the world then go back to your own board.

Funny how a rival comes on HR and has to inform us how darn good they are. Just a few days ago was a thread about come on Penn State show some respect on this board and it was started by a Penn state fan. Man that didn't last long. Most of us Hawk fans know that Zain, Nolf and Nickal are studs we don't need some one to inform us. It appears when some of our own posters choose to commend and "slap on the back" the "good" pen staters, we then get even more pen state trolls who appear to show up en mass. Nothing good about having a 1/3 of the posts on this site from pen state trolls.
I've said it before and will say it again, these pen staters are the worst know it all guidos you will ever meet in the wrestling community (granted, this is a pretty highly respected group, but someone has to bring up the butt end, and the pen staters appear to fill that role as if it were their birth right). Let's not forget the state of Pennsylvania has very good people in much of the state and particularly in the Western part of the state. However, the ones near Philly and those that end up at pen state are just what you would expect from entitled, blathering buffoons--but then what would you expect from a school which has a recent history as shameful as pen state.
I would also be 100% shocked if some of the "good" pen staters who post here also did NOT have a second or third trolling account they use here on our site. From the Sandusky/Joe Pa days they have proven to be very good at having secret identities and life styles. Perhaps you, like myself, see them here as daily reminders--how even good people can be corrupted by those whose corrupt actions go unchallenged.

I thought it very telling when someone said they were over here posting while their team was wrestling, makes me shake my head. most of the time when our guys are going I don't even post here let alone on someone elses board that's not even involved. much insecurity from them. they are so good just enjoy it, but yes we are here and will have a say in how this all plays out. I am really enjoying this year. the psters don't really bother me, I kind of feel sorry for them that they can't appreciate their team without cutting other teams down'
Their fans are like Gopher fans. During football games against Wisconsin etc, the gopher fans are cheering who hates Iowa. Penn State fans are more concerned with what Iowa thinks than they are with enjoying their own team.
Size matters, and fortunately we have it, whereas our small friends from the the East are well, lacking in a lot of areas. The Joe Pa/Sandusky crowd suffer from forum envy. It's probably a common theme for most of their posters.
