That is what he personally said somewhere although I can't quote it. Am positive this is the case and it might take a while to know if it happens based on previous petitions to the NCAA.I think he has to get the medical RS to even be eligible.

So if he was refusing to play, why did the coaches even let him suit up? Hell, I don’t know if he cashed in the season or not. The bottom line is he wasn’t very good anyway. Why all the hate? If he was available and got put in, would he have done any better than his previous attempts? I wasn’t disappointed when he got benched. I just don’t understand all the hate towards him.Did he try his best? He was healthy and cleared for the last 2 games of the season but allowed a 5th stringer go out there and lead the team.
My point being there weren’t expectations on Hill and Petras. Hill will probably go down as the worst Iowa quarterback in the modern era but he was never supposed to be the guy. McNamara was. Both Petras and Hill (along with 99% of this board) would have taken that check as well. Don't blame the recipient. Blame the payer.
They didn’t let him suit up. Are you intentionally dense? Cade’s quitting the team, storming out of practice made Kirk, Brian, and Cade look awful. They all tried to save face by letting him stay on the team and not dress. So if he was refusing to play, why did the coaches even let him suit up? But he wasn't the guy. He was terrible. That's not on him. That's on the staff. And to say that there weren't expectations of Petras isn't correct. Ok. It really doesn’t matter that my point is even if he didn’t quit, would he have played any better than what he showed? So, he quit (I honestly didn’t know that if true) but reality is, he wasn’t any good anyway so I don’t care if he took his ball and went home. I don’t hate him for not being any good and I don’t hate him for not playing the final few games…They didn’t let him suit up. Are you intentionally dense? I'm with you. Kirk and Brian looked bad before Cade quit. I was more than happy never to see Cade take another snap at Iowa so him ducking out of the last 2 games means nothing to me. Hooray.Ok. He was not in uniform the last three games, and didn't travel to the road games.....So if he was refusing to play, why did the coaches even let him suit up? Agreed. Petras came in with some pretty high expectations. Wasn't he the guy who broke all kinds of high school records in California held by Jared Goff and also came in and was a starting Big 10 QB as a sophomore? Most fans would rightfully have extremely high expectations for a kid like that. He just failed to live up to them. But he wasn't the guy. He was terrible. That's not on him. That's on the staff. Petras always had good physical skills and made throws that Cade could only dream of. He obviously had poor coaching being stuck with Brian. His biggest problem was between his ears and some of that might have been the result of getting the shit knocked out of him for 3 years behind one of the worst olines in Iowa history and his lack of mobility didn't help that. With that said, Petras looked like Tebow compared to Cade.Agreed. Petras came in with some pretty high expectations. Based on the relatively good season he had this year, it's pretty clear that he was not coached nearly to his potential.
The same can likely be said about McNamara, though the ceiling on an immobile, inaccurate, and weak armed QB is pretty low.
OK you're going to have to be more specific.
You just described about 3 recent Iowa QB's.
Stop being an ass.How about not quit on the team when you get benched? How about walk out for senior Day? He was handled with kid’s gloves because he was Kirk and Brian’s guy. Any other respectable program he would have been benched after ISU game.
yesWait, Cade quit?? I am way behind on this. He purposely stopped coming to practice because he wasn't the starter?
This, I couldn’t believe how many on here had a major boner over this guy. The dude struggled and got benched at Michigan where he had championship talent all around him. This was even before her got hurt. And how many of you were ecstatic when Cade signed with Iowa?
I think it also showed how bad our quarterback talent was at the time. Ever since Stanley leftThis, I couldn’t believe how many on here had a major boner over this guy. The dude struggled and got benched at Michigan where he had championship talent all around him. This was even before her got hurt.
It really showed how clueless our coaches were about recruiting him and how clueless this board was about him.
There were so many other options available for them right? Please list who else we could have gotten, realistically. .. I’ll be waiting. This, I couldn’t believe how many on here had a major boner over this guy. The dude struggled and got benched at Michigan where he had championship talent all around him. So we were supposed to have a boner because we brought in another crappy qb? Let’s hope you aren’t doing any hiring at your job. Sorry boss,I know he only comes in once a week but he was the best I could findThere were so many other options available for them right? Please list who else we could have gotten, realistically. .. Some was Doyle but his protegee took over. There were also a couple of misses (especially in Iowa/Illinois) in recruiting after Morgan retired. Guess who was in charge of the OL and OL recruiting.I never thought I would live long enough to see our OLines become so woefully inept - for years.
Supposedly we were OLineU.
Was losing Doyle THE key factor?
Not a Doyle fan, but OLine play has fallen off a cliff into The Abyss since he was gone.
Our QBs have of late been low D3 caliber (maybe), but only Thor would have had a chance behind our lines.
Makes me weep.
Sadly I was excited once Stanley graduated. I was tired of the statue qb’s that were there the previous couple of qb’s. Didn’t know it would only get worse.I think it also showed how bad our quarterback talent was at the time. Ever since Stanley left

Been awhile since Iowa has had a QB that could "move the chains"I wouldn’t say ecstatic. My friend is a huge Michigan fan and said “Cade is a game manager who can move the chains”. My expectations were mediocre at best and he somehow let them down.
