Caitlin Clark goes woke

The same issues from last season will show up this season and when that dirty foul is called, CC won’t say a word, the CC fans will call out the player, and then the player will play the victim.

That's why she's speaking out, she doesn't want her "fans" calling out/harassing other players for her. Because a lot of them crossed the line when they did that this season.

Sometimes the best way to deal with a “problem” is to play through it without comment.
Basketball is a physical game and folks get knocked on their butts at times…. Women spend an inordinate amount of time in the floor, it seems. The refs will start “protecting ” #22 more as her cred increases…that’s the way “stars” are treated….and #22 is a star.

You know, idiot, desi isn't a derogatory term. It's like calling an imbecile like you an American. Of course, the world knows you are a brainless moron, but you're attempt at flaming is a solid d minus.
Well there you are desi. Simply means someone from South Asia. I know what it means

You are from the educated Brahmin class.of India. Look down on all those untouchables while enjoying the prosperity of this country. Weird you aren't fixing the issues in India with your superior education and skills. Call people racist here and yet maintain that elitist Brahmin mentality. Do you reach down below your caste and lift people up or are those people beneath you?

You are the racist. Enjoying all of the privilege of your caste while coloring people in this state and country as racist.

I’m waiting patiently for someone to hold Angel Reese accountable for all the internet trolls who refer to CC as The Great White Hope and Kaitlin Klark.

Caitlin will be crushing that. She’s way ahead of where Serena was in year one of pro tennis. It must be so comforting, living in our little bubble where there’s no effect racism would have economically. Even Caitlin sees it, but you deny her own testimony. Talk about the ultimate condescending wokester.
Ooopsies...
Now he's gonna feel "attacked" for being "racist and privileged" again!!!

That’s kind of my whole point, Joel.
Good for you.
98% if the “controversy” around #22 is (social) media generated noise that has nothing to do with the game of (women’s) basketball.. Petty jealousy and subtle racism seems to be the bullet points that drive this controversy…Sadly most of #22’s professional basketvall has been silenced by the noise surrounding her game.

I bet #22 will improve her floor game as time moves on.
I'd stated this, repeatedly (and showing that evolution through her first season) in the other thread.

When I posted that she was not playing "good enough" for the Olympics, the trolls came at me like drunk monkeys.
Now, she's come out and stated basically the same - she did not want to "be a face" that just sat on the bench.

And now that she has stated basically what I'd posted multiple times, those morons are completely avoiding that topic.

She was playing “good enough” to play for the Olympic team. It was an epic PR failure not to have her on the team. Women cut their noses off to spite their faces all the time. (My opinion only) Larry Bird was on the Olympic Dream Team and he could barely walk.

No; she was not.
She was "on the bubble" at the time of the selections as her overall play was fairly average.

After that point in the season, her play improved, dramatically and in line with other WNBA superstars stat lines. Again: I've posted the metrics on this dozens of times, and the numbers don't lie.

CC would have excelled at the Olympics and will in the future. Imagine her getting to play in games where the refs actually called fouls and against opponents that are lucky to be Big10 level talent. She needed the break after playing in the champ game then going straight to the draft and into the W season.

I agree at the time of the team selection; she had not done enough to be on the roster by merit. But the all-stars did defeat the Olympic team and if the Olympics were after the season rather than in the middle of it, she is probably on the team.

She was playing well enough… her name recognition was second to none…she deserved a place on the team and she was not afforded one. She moved on…I saw it as a huge miss by US women’s basketball.

She didn't even "excel" in the WNBA AS game last year.
I'm sure she will in future years.
The best players in the world all played in that All-Star game and play in the W with very rare exceptions. CC's performance in that game shouldn't be compared to how she would perform against lesser competition who aren't all out to shut her down.

I was disappointed she was left off the team but not upset by it. From a $$ and marketing perspective she should have been on the team, from a competitive perspective it's not cut and dry she belonged AT THAT TIME. By the end of the season, she was playing as well as anybody in the league and it would have been damn hard if not impossible to keep her off the roster.

Like I said…Larry Bird was put on The Dream Team and he could barely walk. Bird was there because he was Larry Bird… #22 deserved the same honor as the games most recognizable (active) name at the time of selection. Again… she moved in and J couldn’t have cared less… but women’s basketball in the USA made a huge (PR) mistake.

They were at the opposite ends of their careers. If you want to make the argument that she belonged because there was precedent by other rookies being on the Olympic teams in the past, I follow you there, but they played in a different era. I think the All-Star game proved, the W could have sent 2+ rosters worth of women to the games and came away with the gold.

So are the detractors here saying that “white privilege” does not exist in the USA? That being said”white” in the USA does not automatically provided advantages that brown, black, red and yellow folks in the USA do not intrinsically enjoy?

I just don’t think skin color matters in 2024. In 1963 I would say yes….today…nope.

MLKs line about “judge me for the content of my character and not the color of my skin”

Well, people don’t like being judged for their character…so they have to create the narrative that it’s their skin color

Is there an “attractiveness privilege”? Is there an “Asian privilege”?

I strongly disagree. Skin color is the primary determinate of how we judge people we don’t know even today.
