Just a quick update before California states gets going (March 4th and 5th). Clovis HS Justin Mejia is back from injury and currently ranked #1 at 120 lbs. Probably the biggest threat to Justin getting his 3rd title is Robert Garcia from Selma HS. Garcia is nationally ranked in the 12-15 range and is tough to score on. Also on the dark horse tip, Freshman Jaden Abas is ranked about 8th or 9th in the state and has steadily improved. Jaden is Fresno St stud Gerry Abas' son and Stephen Abas' nephew.

At 152 pounds also back from injury and ranked #2 is MLK HS's Luke Troy. Luke is ranked behind former teammate Evan Wick from San Marino HS. These two are in the same section and are likely to meet up in the finals this Saturday at the state qualifying tournament. Wick is a senior and committed to Wisconsin. Both Mejia and Troy are juniors.

Thank you for the update SoCal ! Always nice to hear what's going on with our future Hawks / National Champs, appreciate you taking the time to keep us posted.

Troy got beat in the Divisional Final by Wick. He's competing in the sectional/state qualifying tournament today and is the number 2 seed. Hopefully, he can win the rematch.

Sorry Edquinn, I don't have the score. This loss is the second time this year that Wick has beaten him. They wrestled in the finals of the Battle for the Belt in January. Also no score listed in the article I read. Wick is a scrappy, scrambling-type wrestler and Troy is a bull. Good matchup of contrasting styles. Hope Troy can get over the hump tonight.
Edit- I found the score for their final at the Battle for the Belt. Wick won 5-2. Source was the Wisconsin Badger forum.
