Spoke to a friend of mine in the CMO . He told me once the new UIHC hospital in North Liberty is completed in 2024, they are going to go to the Regents and request funding for a new surgical/ICU tower, like what SFCH is right now. Much of this is known, but what he also told me is that as part of the funding request, the university is going to ask for new funding for an athletics complex on the west side of campus. This new complex will include a new indoor batting complex for both softball and baseball, a new training complex for tennis, and a 15,000 seat domed stadium to be used for both baseball and softball. He also said it will this new stadium will be multipurpose, so things like concerts and plays can be performed there.
