Googling, I find that the median new car price 2 years ago was $32K. Last year, the average used car cost $16K. I assume both numbers are higher this year.

Seems like a lot.

Yes. Doesn't everybody know that? But what's your point? As I pointed out, there are cheaper ones. But not too many that are a lot cheaper, even if you are getting a pretty stripped model.

How do you know where cars are built anymore?

All over. And parts from Bosch,Delphi,Denso,NGK,NTK,Federal Mogul among others. You have Chevrolets with a Denso upstream and a NTK downstream o2 senors on them. Of course Ac-Delco now makes "Boxes" as they repackage everything from the cheapest bidder. AC plugs are a combo of Denso,NGK ,Autolite and Champion. Whoever gets the contract.
