Expansion-minded Casey's General Stores is continuing its acquisitions, announcing Tuesday it plans to purchase of 63 convenience stores in Kentucky and Tennessee.

The current owner of the Mini Mart and Certified Oil stores is EG America, the U.S. division of EG Group, based in the United Kingdom.

The purchase price was not disclosed. Casey's and EG said in a joint news release that the deal is expected to close later this year.

Ankeny-based Casey's, which says it has more than 2,500 locations, is the third-largest U.S. convenience store chain, according to a January ranking by convenience store news website CSP. Westborough, Massachusetts-based EG American is fifth in the ranking, with 1,682 stores.

'Excellent strategic fit' for Casey's, says CEO

The acquisition will boost Casey's presence in the two states, where it lists a few dozen locations.

"This opportunity is an excellent strategic fit as we look to add locations in Kentucky and Tennessee, which are both within our existing distribution footprint," Casey's CEO and President Darren Rebelez said in the news release. "We look forward to serving more guests in these markets and welcoming the team members from this transaction into the Casey’s family.”

EG America President Nick Unkovic in the release called Casey's "an excellent operator" and said EG believes "these stores and team members will continue to thrive under their ownership.”

The release said Casey's expects to retain the existing employees.

Casey's in June announced it plans to add 350 stores over the next three years, keeping pace with the previous three years. It currently has stores in 16 states, with most of them in Iowa, Illinois and Missouri, where it recently bought 26 Minit Marts in the Kansas City metro.

Rebelez at the time named Tennessee specifically as one of the states where Casey's planned to expand.

Casey's also is rated the fifth-largest U.S. pizza chain. Its stock closed at $248.51 on Tuesday, down 27 cents from Monday's close.

Outside of pizza, Casey’s absolutely sucks ass compared to Kwik Star.

Kwik Star will have multiple checkouts going at once when lines form and some now even have self Check out.

Meanwhile Casey’s has one facial pierced tattooed lardass going through the motions.

Casey’s is increasing sales by just buying up competition. They obviously don’t give a shit about customer service or the quality of individual stores.
