I really, really feel bad for her. I have been to SA a couple of times and really enjoy the culture, the food, and of course the people who graciously indulge my poor Spanish.

No sympathy from me. A good friend of mine (US citizen) married a Brazilian and he's been waiting almost 2 years for DHS and State to process her visa application. His wife has been waiting in Brazil the entire time.

I can agree with idea that we can't just let everyone in here who wants in. But at the same time if you can't empathize with someone who wants to live a better life than I honestly think you are just a sociopath. Which quite frankly is what I think of most of MAGA anyways so it's hardly surprising.
She didn't try to make a better life in one of those countries. I have little compassion for someone who doesn't try.

the cbp one app was essentially a scheduling app that helped (even if incrementally) make the legal immigration system function more efficiently
this is a continued theme of the trump approach to immigration...instead of actually implementing reform through legislation, he purposely makes the system as inefficient and cumbersome and difficult to deal with as possible in the hopes that less people try to use the legal immigraiton system
Most "illegals" are people who simply overstayed a Visa. They were not "let in"
and i think reductions to the legal immigration system should be done through legislation
not by purposely making the system as horrible as possible and just hoping no one wants to deal with it
but i'm also not inherently anti-immigrant - i don't blame our nation's issues on immigrants

But, we’ve also got roughly 700,000 homeless Americans in this country who could certainly use more aid than what’s frequently available. A lot more. How do we go about seeing to their most urgent needs?
