CBS sports mock draft

I have seen several mock drafts where Chicago takes him one spot earlier. I have also seen a mock draft where the Dolphins take him a couple of picks later. I have seen him being picked #15 as well.

Looks like a pretty high pick for Josh!

I also saw another mock awhile ago where he lasted until early in round 2, but again, that was awhile ago.

Josh is about to become a very wealthy young man. Super excited for him. Damn we are going to miss him though.

It has been a long time since we've had a guy go significantly higher than expected early in the draft. Dallas Clark is an obvious choice as none of us saw him going in the 1st round. Most of us thought he was a 2nd or 3rd rounder back in 2003.

I think right now being a top 10 pick would classify him as significantly higher than expected. Prior to the combine I think he's commonly been listed as a late 1st - early 2nd pick. Let's hope he doesn't have a significant drop like Des did which cost him a lot of money compared to the value he brought as a rookie.

I hope these analysts are wrong so the he is still available later on for the Falcons. The Falcons also need help at offensive guard - I hope they look at Welsh and Daniels in the mid or late rounds.

Same mock drafts that had King as a first rounder for so long. Fun to look at but the guesses are the same as yours and mine. Josh will be a first rounder but these mocks have no idea

Sheesh.... that seems high.

I think he can be a very good pro, but that hardly seems like a "swinging for the fences" pick I would be making that early.

Would be the first top 10 pick of an Iowa DB, I believe, since the great scratcher that was Arizona selecting Tom Knight No. 9 in the 1997 Draft. I still remember the shock on my father's face as he quietly mumbled to himself: Holy $***.

I don't have a lot of faith in this draft as they do not have Denver taking a QB. I will guarantee they take a QB with their first pick. Not a Denver fan, but man do they have needs there. Their QB pool is shallow.

As a Denver fan, I hope to gawd they don't take a QB in the top 5...the Broncos have so many other needs, including but not limited to the offensive line. If one of those can't miss tackles are available at 5, I hope Denver goes that direction.

Interesting. Not arguing with a Denver fan as you have watched them this year way more then me, but damn their quarterbacks are terrible. What's your thoughts on addressing that? Seriously curious.

You are correct, but I dont remember being shocked by that pick.

personally, Denver appears to be in the midst of a major overhaul. Doubt Talib is back, suspect either Thomas or Sanders will be released for salary cap purposes, they have too much money tied up in receivers that aren't game changers. The Denver D is still pretty good, but nowhere near what they were two years ago. The offensive line has been atrocious for years, Peyton simply masked the issues by audibles with protection and got the ball out on average in about 2 seconds to preserve his life. This team has a lot of holes and I don't see them being a playoff team in 2018/19 so personally I would draft someone similar to Scherff. Washington was ridiculed for drafting a guard but all Brandon has done is go to back to back pro-bowls and helped create a pretty good line in Washington. Hope Denver does the same and drafts the biggest, nastiest SOB for the offensive line so we can stop the bleeding at that position group. If not OL, we need a middle linebacker and/or defensive tackle. As for their QB next year...I have no clue, but on the limited sample size I've seen, I wouldn't take Rosen or Darnold that high...I would draft the best lineman available and hope Josh Allen is available early 2nd round and supplement the QB room with a relatively inexpensive vet that can be a good presence and mentor. Broncos also have Chad Kelly on IR this year, not sure if he is worth a damn either...but with the number of issues the team has, I would address the line first.

P.S. While Elway is thought of a God in Bronco country, take a look at the last five draft classes for the Broncos...absolute garbage and speaks to the Broncos free fall from the Super Bowl, it was only a matter of time with so many misses in the draft. This is the first year in over 15 that I missed a home game...ended up donating our tickets to teh season finale to the Colorado Childrens Hospital versus driving 90 minutes to the game and dealing with traffic on the way out. I suspect we will renew our season tickets, but for the first time we are seriously considering not renewing.

Agreed. King being a "steal" in the 5th is going to help JJ's stock quite a bit. Iowa DB Cred.
And Hyde too, helps that we have the same staff coaching that coached these same players. Not to mention KF speaks very highly of JJ-which carries a lot of weight in the NFL world. Just recently saw a tweet about how Iowa players rarely perform below their draft position and more often than not perform much higher.

They don't just have him going high, they have him as first CB off the board. 2nd DB with Fitzpartick from Bama going early on.

Will he be the first CB? He has more of a prototypical body than King and probably better measurable. Coming off a record setting INT season like King had his Jr year. Haven't looked at the other CBs in the class.

One of the entries said there is a trend of less of emphasis at LB in the Draft. Wonder if that pushes Jewel's projection back a bit. If only Jaleel played this year we could have 3 JJ's drafted.

Also a bronco fan here. There is a lot of talk around here about Kirk Cousins in free agency for the Broncos. not sure that is what will happen, but that is probably why you are not seeing the Broncos take a qb with the fifth pick. Broncos need lots of help right now. The O-line is atrocious.

haha I remember that as well though I was young. I remember Mel Kiper and everyone burying the Cardinals for the pick and Hayden Fry's quote in the Register the next day :

"You'd have to introduce Mel Kiper to a jock strap," Fry said. "He's never had one on."

I'd like to see Jackson and Jewell go to the Raida's to play in Chuckys new regime! Jackson's combine performance will be an expose in ideal body type and performance for an nfl db.

Even without Cousins, I hope they take OL in the first. If we draft Mayfield with our first pick, I'm done.

Kirksey is anything but poor....

Don't be surprised if Kirksey ends up with Pittsburgh. With Shazier injury he may be done with football and Steelers will be looking for a long term ILB. Browns in nuclear mode with the new staff so could see Kiksey leaving via free agency.

Kisksey just signed a big contract last year maybe a better chance they go after Hitchens because right now he is a UFA with a big market value

Walter football mock yesterday has Jackson going #8 to the Bears who they say are raving about Him, We have to know that wont happen as the Bears never take Iowa guys hense their propensity to suck magnifies.

One thing working in his favor is that when his teammates were asked who the best athlete on the team was over the last two years, every guy--to a man--said "Josh Jackson." My guess is he'll do well at the combine. The only thing holding him back before this year was his youth, inexperience, and understanding of his role as a CB. He's got all the tools to play in the NFL at a high level. Should do well at the Combine or pro day if he chooses that option.

Many moons ago the Bears took both Hilgenberg boys and Mark Bortz and I think all three at one time were Pro Bowlers.

I hope all these guys just get drafted by a good team that poor Kirksey has to be wondering WTF did I do to deserve this. I'm sorry bears fans but 2 teams I hope don't select Iowa kids are Browns and Bears.
you're forgiven but being on the Bears defense is certainly a pretty good place to be right now

CJ Beathard went way earlier than he was supposed to go, didn't he?
