Hey all, I don’t follow wrestling as close as I should but certainly all Hawk! I live in Chattanooga and taking my 5 years old son to the match with the Mocs tonight. I know of the Spencer Lees but not really the full line up. Any thoughts on if we will see their B lineup tonight or do they wrestle their normal starters all the time (or some type of combo)? Just don’t know how they approach matchups with smaller schools so was curious on what to expect? Regardless we’ll be there in Hawk gear cheering on the black and gold!!

There were a couple of years where most non-conference, away duals could be purchased as single event by school hosting meet.

It’s almost like there are multiple conferences and schools and each has some level of ability to negotiate with a broadcast partner of their choosing. I know I liked it way better when we had zero ability to watch many of these meets at any price.

BTW, for wrestling the B12 and others have been on ESPN+ for a few years now. Not really a new thing.

It was a fun night with my son. I know the experts will say our subs should have done better but still a fun night. Lots of Hawks in the 2,800ish attendance. Awesome to see Cap end it with a pin 📌 !! #pricelessmemories #GOHAWKS

I understand the frustration fans have with the dual… not one of Iowa’s best showings… HOWEVER… FWIW, when Brennan was looking to transfer to D1, I spoke to one of our local legends in SE Iowa who is about the most reliable source possible (the voice of college wrestling in fact) for a long time about some of the D1 coaches that he considers to be really good or on the rise… He told me to watch out for Chattanooga, for their coaching staff is one of the best he’s ever met in the game and this is in decades of covering the sport. Said that if they could land some recruits that they could become one of the best programs in the country quickly considering how much faith he has in the coaching philosophies of the HC at Chattanooga.

I know the Hawkeyes didn't have one of their sharpest nights….but if the info that my source told me is legit (it is), then I think there’s a possibility that the Chattanooga squad may deserve some credit and are a genuinely well-coached squad…

I don’t know anything about that program, just what I was told. Said the HC is one of the brightest coaching minds in the game.

Slight possibility that we may see that program causing a ruckus in due time (years from now).

For their size Chattanooga has had fairly competitive wrestling teams (Terry Brands was HC a couple of years). More than likely the Mocs HC just goes onto a bigger gig. We have that happen a lot with Moc coaches in all sports .

I purchase ESPN+ and BIG plus during wrestling season…… the Iowa Women play on there kinda regularly too

Still refuse to purchase FLO cause I’m a bullheaded old bastard and they pissed me off a few years ago

What was the final team score?

27-12 Hawks. A lot of Hawks scoring by regular starters with bonus points. Two tech falls and a pin by Tony was 16 of the points. Also had two major decisions as well.
