Chicago braces for buses carrying up to 1,250 migrants daily: ‘an untenable situation’

I don't know what to think about all of that. I have concerns about many thing for the future but right now I'm struggling to handle the present. I figure at some point we have to self destruct from the right or the left (or up or down).
What are your biggest concerns in the present? Do you think Biden is trying to close the border?

If you're interested, here is an interesting read.

I'm not sure I buy in to all this stuff, but it's so hard to tell what is real these days, so who knows.

When it comes to politics I have all kinds of concerns. leaders on both sides are only out for votes and not out for what they even think is best for the country.

For example, the federal democratic leadership (Biden and Congress) were fine with migrants when the republican states were complaining. At that point the democrat states should have been defending the states being overrun (Texas). They should have been speaking out but they stayed basically silent. Now the dem states are being overloaded with migrants and so the mayors and governors are speaking out. It seems Biden is now making changes but I believe that's only because the general public in the states like Illinois and NY are complaining that they're being majorly impacted. I wish something was done based on doing the right thing rather than doing the right thing for votes.

Another example is how states are handling DEI. I'm baffled that a handicap governor would remove DEI organizations. He is were he's at because of DEI. There are ramps in the building for providing the equity needed for him to do his job, and that's only one example. They governors mansion was remodeled to be more DEI so he can live there. My kid had a major injury one summer while in college where he could use his dominant arm, it was immobilized. We thought he would have to sit out a year of college but the DEI department at the university assured us they would help get him through the year, and they did. That DEI department was a life savor for my son during that year. Removing DEI departments is not the right thing to do, but it gets people votes.

I agree with wishing things were done to help citizens instead of just for votes. I think a lot of this boils down to who do they owe favors to. Money talks.

I think you might be lumping dei and disabilities into the same category. I support helping people with a disability by installing a ramp. I do not support having to hire a certain percentage of people with disabilities to meet a quota.

An example of dei is gov Newsom announcing he was going to get a black woman for the senate. I want people hired because they are qualified, not just for their skin color. I would fully support hiring a black woman if she was the best candidate though. Imo, dei causes more division and hatred than it does good.

Biden has gone out of his way to invite more immigrants to the USA. This is not accidental. He is doing this to achieve a bigger agenda. It is no coincidence that other nato countries are having similar issues.

This is a political move to invite them here. His goal is to collapse state and local governments, so he can implement more handouts and ultimately achieve the socialism/communism that he wants.
Do you really believe that?

I think it’s much more likely that it’s simply an unsolvable problem brought about by long-standing problems in Central and South America and our Constitutional and legal restrictions/requirements.

It’s not a big conspiracy theory.

We have a different definition of DEI. DEI has been hijacked by a few groups and that's really too bad because it leads people like you to be against it. Much like the American Flag has been hijacked as well. DEI isn't about hiring x number of minorities (I call that Corporate DEI). DEI is about providing the equity for people to be productive whether they're handicapped or just the average person doing their job. The UPS guy might use the "handicap" doors just because his hands are full. What people don't realize is, when being inclusive it allows for different viewpoints and different solutions. You get a better product when Real DEI is being used and more people benefit. Remember, not everyone is "disabled" but yet at times they need assistance. I'm dating myself, but when pay at the pump came to be a thing, I didn't see the benefit. What does it matter if I have to go into the store, I'll get a candy bar. But then I had a kid and realized, hey this pay thing is actually really nice. DEI is all around you but you probably don't take notice.

So it's a coincidence that numbers rose dramatically once biden took over?

Tell me what Biden has done to stop this. He was so concerned about the border that he waited until 2023 to visit the border.

You believe his lies, that makes you the fool.

I can’t access that full source without an account, but could see this part. How does this square with Biden letting immigration continue unchecked?

In the fiscal year of 2022, there were 2,214,652 alien apprehensions and expulsions registered by the United States Border Patrol - a significant increase from the previous fiscal year when there were 1,662,167 registered alien apprehensions.

More have been detained under Biden.

It was reported that at one point an enraged and frustrated Biden screamed at his staff “what do we need to do to fix this?!” So I’m sure he would like to. But then he made the mistake of assigning Kamala to solve the issue and she promptly ignored it. And he is somewhat handcuffed as the squad goes into a frenzy if he goes too far.

That tells me Biden invited a lot of people to come to the usa, some had to be sent back. Not sure what you think this proves. If he didn't invite them here in the first place they wouldn't be apprehended.

I agree he has not done a great job at managing the situation. Harris is useless.

I just don’t agree with Hawk82 and others who parrot Tucker and the Great Replacement Theory.

It appears the Sanctuary Cities aren't as welcoming as they led you to believe.

One Tuesday, members of the Galewood neighborhood staged a protest against plans to erect a shelter in the Amundsen Fieldhouse, arguing it would displace programming for kids and teens the community has come to depend on.

About 1,250 are now expected to arrive dailyAFP via Getty Images
“You want to take the little scraps of resources we have and put us at the bottom of the barrel? That’s not fair.” one woman said, according to Fox 32.

Elsewhere in the city, residents of the South Shore neighborhood filed a lawsuit aiming to prevent the former South Shore High School from being converted into migrant housing.

The lawsuit says converting public spaces — including police station lobbies — into migrant shelters is not only detrimental to local communities, but violates humanitarian rights of migrants.

“If you call it a humanitarian effort, they shouldn’t be sleeping in police stations on the floor,” said organizer Brian Mullins.

Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker (D.) criticized the Biden administration’s response to the migrant crisis in a letter MondayAP
More than 17,000 migrants have already been shipped to Chicago from the border since August 2022 but the total is soaring with new arrivals according to Beatriz Ponce de Leon, Chicago’s deputy mayor for immigrant, migrant, and refugee rights.

In a scathing letter to President Biden Monday, Illinois’ Democrat Governor, J.B. Pritzker accused the feds of failing to provide adequate aid to the city — a sentiment echoed by numerous other American mayors as the crisis unfolds.

“The humanitarian crisis is overwhelming our ability to provide aid to the refugee population. Unfortunately, the welcome and aid Illinois has been providing to these asylum seekers has not been matched with support by the federal government.

“Most critically, the federal government’s lack of intervention at the border has created an untenable situation for Illinois.”
“All are welcome!” Why aren’t liberal cocksuskers everywhere dropping their pants and opening their homes to this scum? HROT?????

Sending them all over hell seems to have worked.

Hundreds and thousands of people that don’t speak English and have no money nuke school systems and funding that was intended for Americans.

The national guard needs to be deployed to close border.

Yeah, sounds like you've imbibed the purple drink.

"Real DEI" (whatever that is) is a make-work industry for "studies" majors. "Equity" was a term, until the past decade, you'd find almost exclusively regarding homeownership/lending. Now it means whatever the persons pumping it want it to mean.

This is hilarious in light of Ibram X. Kendi basically running his "antiracist" center at Boston U into the ground and then having one of his previous supporters saying Kendi wasn't doing the "real antiracism."

I’m not drinking anything other than understanding that we’re all different and people of all types are valuable. If you choose to feel otherwise then it’s your loss.

Are you denying that he was very lenient on immigration? He specifically said immigrants would not be deported and would be treated humanely. I would call that an invitation.
This is your original post (and no, I don’t believe this):

NYC, a city that has had a population drop of 500,000 since Covid. Is screaming uncle over 100,000

Now compare that to the millions that have crossed into Texas over the years.

It’s like global warming. Hell of a lot easier to say you care vs show you care.
