CJ

I was just peeking at his stats... WOW. I knew he was playing well, but didn't quite realize the extent of it. 2nd in scoring. 56% from 3, 58% from the field. Over 3 assists a game!!

I'm amazed IOWA played as well as it did without CJ. We need him back.

He say anything about Pemsl? I only saw the first half and thought other than his complete lack of thinking about shooting Till did a good job.

I honestly think Till is pretty useful. He obviously isn't a scoring threat, but you get a lot of energy and hustle from the kid, he plays solid defense, and his rebounding is pretty good. Overall a good athlete who, in a pinch--like last night--can give some very quality minutes.

The Hawks two highest rated players on KenPom are CJ and Connor, who both have ORtg in the top 50 in the country. Luka is 11th among "Go-to guys" and 335th overall.

Sounds like promising news for CJ, who has been really good on both ends, especially for a freshman.

I hope we have heard the last of the Connor bashing, because his contribution often gets overlooked. We are a better team on both ends of the floor with him on the floor. This is the best passing team at Iowa in a VERY long time.

I haven't been a huge fan of Pemsl, but I hope he can get back on the court for short spurts of energy and toughness. Till played very well last night, but we will need a third physical big against some of the B1G teams.

Seems like perception of Connor has done a 180 now that hes playing the 3/4.

He went from being perceived as entitled to a guy who is now sacrificing for the team guarding bigger players in the lane, and hes doing an excellent job.

I'm glad for him.

In general I just really love playing 4 guards. Its improved both ends of the floor significantly IMO, especially defensively.

Fran always said he wanted to play positionless, but for the first time we're actually doing it.

The Connor bashing was always perplexing, even going back to last year, but some people can't see past their dislike for Fran.

CJF JOEY CONNER are playing at high levels.. If Jordan can be 75% especially when teams zone we will be fine. Got to get Joey W and CJF 32 min a game...We do that we are good.
If JBo is only 75% then he needs to shut it down until next year.

The bashing was stupid but I did feel he was not really contributing much for his time.
Different story this year.

He shot 36% from the field and 21% from the 3 and played 18 minutes per game last year. He got bashed because he was not a good shooter and no one had to guard him last year.

Connor playing as a second PG and part time playing in a 4 guard offense is different story. He is 45% from the field and guarding bigger people and appears to have a fade away shot he can use vs bigger players. He is gives us another guard to post feed, instead of using a big like Pemsl/Kriener to post feed to Garza. Jury is still out on Connor 3pt shot..he's 30% this year.

He contributed but not at the level he has this year but again, he was a Freshman and a back-up PG. The expectations were pretty unrealistic for what his role was on the team. Players like Moss seemed to get a much longer leash from the fans even though he was a starting guard who disappeared quite often, especially in big games. Yeah, Connor was not a good shooter last year and he did seem to lose more confidence in his shot but he did contribute in other ways ... just like he has this year at a higher level. Connor is going to always have two things he will have to overcome with the Iowa fan base ... his name and the fact his game isn’t pretty, even when it is effective.

Joe T could put worse 3's than Connor did last year but the Connor bashers would still but raving about Joe T.

I have been enjoying Connor's head's up play - hands poking balls away etc.

He didn't even look to shoot or go to the rim. WTF
Get the pass and pass it back outside. Any other bench player could have done this...Worked a lot better with Connor playing in the paint..

Connor is playing well but I still don’t want to see the ball in His hands when the shot clock is windy down (it’s happened too often). Nor do I want to see him shoot anything beyond 15 feet.

JBo's game hasn't been bad. Especially considering He hadn't played for 5 months. He'll keep getting better... If he is at 75% now, and will most certainly improve, I will take that for sure!!!

Now, if he is in pain after every game, that is a totally different story... But if he is not, or his prognosis is not going to improve, then let him roll. Cannot beat a shooter like that! Especially when the pressure is on. He's the best out there.

His shooting numbers are down and he’s not really trying on defense. That’s not a good situation for a full season. I will say that playing Jordan to this point has allowed Joe T to ease in.

Plus he admitted after the game that he is not even practicing right now due to the pain.

Guess you missed the info where he’s not practicing at all due to hip pain. He’s just playing games. I would guess it’s not going to get better if he continues. Maybe he can deal with the pain and the doctors are fine with it.

Yes I did miss that memo. We obviously don't know the medical situation, but you're right with the doctors being fine with it. They would shut him down for sure otherwise...

I agree with Childress, definitely does help ease Joe T into his freshman year. Hope he can learn quickly, as Jordan I won't be playing after next week for the rest of the year. Unless....
