CJF & JBO

We would not have won the game tonight without JBo. His leadership was evident in the arena and he was an assassin down the stretch. With Jordan we have a shot at the NCAAs. Without Jordan we have a good shot at the NIT. No knock on any other players, Jordan and Garza are the leaders of this team.

I think you hit the nail right on the head.
Also, this is a smart basketball team.

Both went to the locker room with injuries and returned to be huge down the stretch. When it comes to JBo, I can’t think of another player I’d want in the Iowa lineup when trying to protect the lead.

Obviously JBo has earned the right for the decision to be 100% his, and no one knows how he feels better than he does. However, selfishly if he can play like this and just increase our chances of an NCAA tourney bid by 10% I want to see him play.

Stashing him away for another year because it “could” be better seems to be wishful thinking. Too many variables, too many unknowns. See Jack Nunge. Maybe Ulis comes in and shocks the world, maybe Joe T. has an incredible off season and becomes a force. Maybe CMac faces the basket when he shoots(I kid, I kid). I think we all see potentially good/great thing from CJF.

I’m n the camp of giving the team the best chance to win in the current year and let the chips fall where they may. The are no guarantees for the future.

So you would rather see Wieskamp (35 minutes), Fredrick (29 minutes in the 6th game of his collegiate career) log additional minutes so Bohannon (33 minutes) plays less.

And if neither of them, you’d like to see the guy who, in 16 minutes, scored 2 points on 1/4 shooting, had 2 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, and 1 turnover play more because he not only is a better defender, but is also supposedly capable of replacing Bohannon’s 20 points

Don’t come at me talking about moronic statements then, in the same post, suggesting that Joe Toussaint (also 6th game of his career) should be taking additional minutes in a tournament game against a Top 25 team from a senior with substantial experience in the NCAA Tournament and in high pressure college situations. Joe T played fine in his minutes tonight. But the 33 to 16 distribution absolutely should not have been skewed more towards Toussaint... especially, again, with McCaffery in foul trouble. Absolutely laughable

oh and by the way, both Fredrick (3) and Wieskamp (6) had more turnovers than Bohannon did, and Toussaint had 1 in half the minutes, so I think my statement of nobody being able to match Jordan’s statline is a fact. Unless you think that Connor or Evelyn we’re going to go 20, 6, and 1 (LOL)
We'll see tonight if JBO is affected by all those minutes, in a back to back tourney. If he looks good tonight, and has no ill effects after, he may just be able to keep things going this season.
