Clowns gonna win

It certainly played a factor. The real difference was the turnovers and ISU owning the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball in the 2nd half. That and CM’s inability to hit an open receiver.

Rocco had probably his worst game and best game of his career. His passing was off. Sure-handed receivers were dropping balls or tipping them to the opponent. I don't know how much of that was due to the pressure UCF applied or it was just a bad night. I did see a lot of holding on the receivers and not letting them run their routes, but the officials weren't throwing their flags. Both sides. Although UCF didn't throw much.

The rushing stats UCF put up were embarrassing and must have something to do with them picking on our thin linebacker core. Two pick-6s (one not really a pick-6 after the guy dropped the ball before crossing the endzone) and to give up rushing stats like that and chunk plays and it's hard to believe we won.

All credit to Rocco on the win. His refusal to lose and making things happen with his feet was remarkable. He singly willed this team to victory. And despite his worst game, it was also his best. He would be my player of the game. I don't know who they gave that to officially.

The end of the game came down to one huge miscalculation on the part of UCF....4th and 5 on the ISU 38 yard line with the Cyclones needing a touchdown to win....there is no way you punt the ball in this situation....30 to 40 % probability of winning the game immediately with 4th down conversion....don't get it, ISU still needs 62 yards to score....the difference between 62 and 80 yards is totally insignificant when you are going to employ a prevent defense either way....

I was flipping around to other games during breaks in the Iowa game, and at one point I flipped to ISU and saw them go shotgun with a 4-receiver diamond set formation and was immediately jealous of the willingness of a head coach to try stuff like that.
After our game was over, I did watch the end of the State game and while sloppy, it was entertaining. I've said it to friends; ISU is certainly nowhere near the 9th best team in the country, but they will try whatever they need to to win a game, and I'm guessing you won't hear the sideline reporter come back after halftime when State is getting dominated and say "Coach Campbell says they're going to keep doing what they've been doing" like we were subjected to Saturday night.
