Coaching sucked but the offensive line is

You do realize we lost both starting OT's to injury, correct? Jackson and Wirfs are huge and athletic, but there's a lot more to playing offensive tackle than physical attributes. They have very little experience, and it's killing our offense (among other things).

Our offense would be much more effective worh our starting tackles in there and Jackson and Wirfs where they should be right now -- on the sideline learning.

Lack of push from the Center and one of the Guards has been an issue all year as well..

Excuse monster, keep suckin slurper

Northwestern's offensive line came in as one of the worst in terms of giving up sacks, and yet our DL rarely got within the same zip code as Thorson.
I thought we actually got quite a bit of pressure, even if they were a result of good coverage.

A little misdirection in the run game would be great for them. Not reverses. Cross bucks / jet sweep fakes / play action. Anything to slow down the DL. BTW - the NU DEs killed Iowa's run game by just crashing every play. Would have nice to see a toss sweep off of a fake jet sweep. Also no screens to the back. And there was 2 plays when Wadley was in the right flat with no defender around for miles - and the ball went other side into coverage.

But that's an annual event with the Hawks, injuries, no experienced depth. Kinda thinking that might be a paradigm they would want to change.

Right -- as if they're making a concerted effort not to have depth on the O-line or anywhere else on the roster.

That doesn't say much for our recruiting when the 2nd string O-line are kids that shouldn't be playing, does It?

There is a lot of disappointment in all areas...my biggest disappointment this year is on the defensive side of the ball and their inability to get pressure. Just one time I would like to see Nelson and AJ widen out another yard or two from the OT and make that tackle block them in space.
