I believe his name is pronounced that way since he is from the Caribbean, which has a strong British influence, and the Brits pronounce words oddly all the time (Chalmondeley is "Chumley", Worcester is "Worster", etc). Think of it as a different version of "Coburn" and it makes more sense (I think Coburn is Scottish, IIRC)

I knew a dude from middle school with the last name Capouch. Pronounced “sappo”.

I have a friend whose last name is Balls. I've offered him multiple names for any children he might have and I wouldn't consider myself a bully. Immature definitely, but not a bully.
