I would argue that he inherited a program that was far better than mediocre, unlike Fran who inherited a dumpster fire.

I never compared what Fran inherited to what Bo inherited. I would agree that what Bo took over was better than what Fran took over.

We could argue all day on whether the program Bo took over was mediocre or slightly better than that. But, no question that Bo elevated it to a much higher level. Bo arrived in 2000 and Wisconsin had just snapped their 46 year streak of no NCAA appearances in 1997 so it's not like they were a top notch BIG program in 2000.

OK, I'm not sure we're really in disagreement here. I probably shouldn't have put in Fran's situation relative to Bo because it's really more comparable to what Bennett inherited. I think Bennett did some good work to get the program back on track (and had probably peaked) and Bo came in like a house fire and went to levels previously unimagined. Disagreeable old poop but he sure could coach.
