CA Catholic Official Arrested On Child Porn Charges​

San Francisco’s NBC affiliate reports:

A lay official with the Diocese of Oakland has been arrested on suspicion of possessing and sharing child pornography, NBC Bay Area’s Investigative Unit has confirmed via local law enforcement.
Jeremiah York, 24, worked as the Director of Liturgical Ministries and the Executive Assistant to the Rector at the Cathedral of Christ the Light in Oakland, which is also known as the Oakland Cathedral.
The Diocese of Oakland has not publicly announced the arrest, and York’s photo and employment information remained on the Cathedral’s website until Friday. It was then taken down shortly after NBC Bay Area’s inquiry about the arrest.

The case bogged down during the pandemic, and Linkenauger was representing himself, right up to the time of trial last month, when he told the judge he did want a lawyer appointed. He was convicted on five counts of sexual battery and two counts of lewd & lascivious molestation.
Linkenauger was known in the community not only because of his work as a real estate agent, but he founded a faith-based ministry called Hot Dogs for Hope, which provides food and laundry for the homeless population of Jacksonville. He was also involved with other local organizations and churches.
When confronted by the boy’s mother, Linkenauger apologized and said he had fantasies about being with boys, according to the police report, adding that the mother should believe everything her son told her about the abuse. According to detectives, he also told the boy’s mother he had done worse things to others.

Interesting how the url below says "realtor" (can't trust them) and not minister. Goes with the privilege of being a minister and one reason why they are able to create the carnage on children.

Linkenauger’s wife, with whom he has two children, told police that her husband had been living a “double life.” The video below is from 2020 and the bruises on his face are from having resisted arrest.

The Quincy Police Department says an investigation began in January on Isaiah W. Mikkelson after law enforcement was contacted by a parent of a juvenile that had disclosed possible sexual abuse by a Youth Director/Pastor, at Hope Lutheran Church. Police say during the investigation, multiple juveniles were interviewed at the Child Advocacy Center and alleged abuse by Mikkelson and that the abuse occurred at the church.
On Feb. 24, an arrest warrant was issued for Mikkeslon for multiple counts of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse and Criminal Sexual Assault, involving several juvenile victims while Mikkelson held a position of trust, authority, or supervision over them. On Thursday, Mikkelson appeared in the Adams County Court where two additional charges of Child Pornography were filed and his bond was ultimately raised to $250,000.

Northeast Ohio pastor indicted for sex abuse involving minors​

GEAUGA COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) - A pastor in Northeast Ohio is currently facing charges after being indicted on Friday for sex crimes in the Geauga County Court of Common Pleas.

Geauga County Prosecutor James Flaiz said 37-year-old Dennis Laferty, of Thompson Township, was indicted following alleged sexual abuse of minors between Nov. 30 2019 and Jan. 30 2023.

Flaiz confirmed to 19 News Laferty is a pastor of the Thompson United Methodist Church.

Court documents filed in the Geauga County Court of Common Pleas show Laferty is facing seven charges:

• Five counts of sexual battery, all third-degree felonies
• One count of gross sexual imposition, a third-degree felony
• One count of sexual imposition, a third-degree misdemeanor.

Flaiz said each of the third-degree felonies hold a maximum sentence of five years in prison.

Officials confirmed Laferty was arrested in Crawford County on March 10, and is currently in the Geauga County Jail awaiting trial.

The Thompson United Methodist Church in a statement confirmed Laferty was suspended following the allegations.

The Diocese of Buffalo placed Monsignor Peter J. Popadick on leave for the second time Wednesday, after previously allowing the priest to return to ministry.
In a statement, a spokesperson for the diocese wrote that Popadick was placed on administrative leave after it received a child sexual abuse complaint. Popadick serves as the pastor of St. Aloysius Gonzaga in Cheektowaga.
Diocese spokesman Joe Martone told 7 News the claim is more than 20 years old. Bishop Richard J. Malone placed Popadick on leave in August 2019 after a lawsuit was filed under New York’s Child Victims Act. He was accused of molesting a boy in the 1970s.

A disgraced Queens Catholic Church deacon will spend 16 years behind bars for enticing three boys he met online into having sex with him. Rogelio Vega, 52, faced his reckoning in Brooklyn Federal Court on Wednesday, breaking down in tears as he described how his actions hurt his victims and his family.
The detective posed as a 14-year-old boy on the dating site Grindr, and after Vega sent sexually explicit messages and pictures of his genitals for months, he set up a meeting in Queens.
His arrest led to further revelations. Investigators found evidence of more victims on the deacon’s cell phone, leading the feds to identify three underage boys he enticed into sexual encounters.

He accepted a plea deal for a lesser charge, with the state agreeing to drop two counts of lewd or lascivious molestation. He will serve four years in state prison with five years probation and register as a sex offender.
According to a Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office arrest report, over the course of a year, Johnson sent the victim messages through the TikTok and Text Me apps, telling the victim he “loved her,” calling her “babe” and asking if she was alone. The report says the girl’s mother confronted Johnson but he continued. The victim told police Johnson sent her notes about his desire to touch her private parts, which she said happened on three separate occasions.

Stephen Thomas Parshall, aka “Kiwi,” (38) pleaded guilty in October 2022, to two counts of sexual exploitation of children, one count of coercion and enticement, and one count of receipt and distribution of child pornography.
Under the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act, Parshall is required to register as a sex offender.
According to court documents, law enforcement learned of Parshall’s alleged participation in a conspiracy to cause destruction during protests on May 30, 2020, and of Parshall’s alleged membership in the “Boogaloo” movement.
Parshall was arrested and search warrants were executed on Parshall’s electronic devices. Law enforcement officers located 10 images of child sexual abuse material, and numerous images of child erotica, on Parshall’s cellular phone.
Investigators also located social media conversations on a second cell phone owned by Parshall, under account names “cptkiwi1”, “nopictoobad”, and “pervysage”.

A former youth director at a Pella church is facing multiple charges of sexual abuse, according to court documents. Travis Albers, 38, of rural Pella, has been charged with two counts of lascivious acts with a child – inflict pain or discomfort, both class D felonies; and two counts of indecent contact with a child.
According to court documents, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation in November 2022 after a juvenile victim made statements to officials that Albers had touched them inappropriately. At the time, Albers denied the allegations, police said in court documents.

Actually, you are being selective. You're trying to make a point about one specific group of people, while ignoring other groups that are committing equally horrible acts. You are literally saying that Trans people and drag queens are nothing to be worried about. Every category of person has sex deviants. Oh... we already have well publicized incents of guys pretending to be trans to gain access to bathrooms so they can assault girls. So there's a little more to it than actual trans people.

In general, I really don't care what anyone does as long as they don't hurt people in the process. It's live and let live. Heck, I officiated a lesbian wedding.

UT Missionary Charged With LDS-Themed Child Porn​

Salt Lake City’s ABC affiliate reports:

A Sandy man faces 10 felonies for possessing child porn, some of it allegedly LDS themed. Roland E. Westrup, 23, was charged in the 3rd District Court with 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, a 2nd-degree felony.
He could be put away for up to 15 years for each charge, if that is the case, he could be in jail for life. Westrup admitted he had possessed animated child porn depicting a young Joseph Smith, founder of the LDS church.
Prosecutors have requested that Westrup be held without bail in the Salt Lake County Jail pending trial.

Salt Lake City’s NBC affiliate reports:

The Internet Crimes Against Children task force began investigating Westrup in December after suspected child pornography was uploaded on the Discord app. When questioned by investigators, Westrup claimed he had been viewing child pornography for over 10 years and “would seek out, find and download” it, according to charging documents.
Prosecutors say Westrup also “engages in sexually-charged fantasy conversations” and talks about “sexually abusing male children in his church congregation,” according to the charges. Furthermore, he has “engaged in religiously-themed sexual fantasies,” including missionaries sexually abusing children, the charges state.

Floodlit, a site that tracks Mormon sex abuse, describes Westrup as a full-time church missionary who recently spent two years performing door-to-door proselytizing in Missouri and Illinois.

NC Baptist Pastor Arrested On Child Sex Charges​

Charlotte’s NBC affiliate reports:

The Lincolnton Police Department says a man is accused of child sex crimes, one of which reportedly happened recently. The department said 49-year-old Terry Wayne Rudisill was arrested Friday afternoon. He is charged with three counts of taking indecent liberties with children.
A news release from police said one of the charges stems from a reportedly recent incident involving an 11-year-old girl, while the two other charges are tied to a girl who was 15 years old at the time. Rudisill was jailed with a $50,000 bond. Online records show he made bail.
WCNC Charlotte verified he lives next door to Cornerstone Independent Baptist Church. Google Earth data gathered in 2019 has a “Terry W. Rudisill” listed on the church’s sign as the pastor.

The Northern Virginia Daily reports:

Strasburg police are accusing a local church leader of committing sex crimes against a child four years ago. Mark Newton Heatwole, 65, of Timberville, remains free on bond after his arrest last week on one count of taking indecent liberties with a child under the age of 15.
Sgt. Chris Nixon, of the Strasburg Police Department, states in a criminal complaint dated Wednesday that he investigated a report that sometime between April 1, 2019, and May 30, 2019, Heatwole had exposed himself to a female child at a church.
Nixon goes on to state that the child disclosed during a forensic interview that Heatwole brought her into a bathroom at the church and exposed his private area, and then made her touch the private area.
