I know it's been a long time coming for you guys. I stick my head in here every now and then so I thought I would try not to be an internet coward and come back here after an embarrassing loss.

Don't know what it is about your defense when we play you..but it has owned us twice.

Thanks. The Hawks let a couple of games get away already this year and they seem to have figured out what it takes to compete for an entire 40 mins.

There are some here who dislike Tom but in my view if the Hawks can't win the league I rather see MSU pull it off.

NU fan here. Congrats on a thoroughly impressive win. Preseason I didn't think Iowa could be this good because of the loss of White who I really liked. So far Iowa plays best against the best competition. I think Fran should get a lot more attention for this. And the energy kid...he really came along at the right time. Fun to watch.

Thanks fellow Big Ten type fans from foreign lands. It is nice once in awhile in the heat of competition to hear a kind word. Best of luck to both your teams.

When Uthoff hit that three ball 5 feet beyond NBA range...Calhoun goes you can't leave him uncovered...I thought to myself...well if someone is shooting from that deep let them.

We are a 3 point shooting team primarily this year and for some reason you guys have defended the 3 really well against us and have turned us over.

To be honest with you. Our players and coaches had nothing to do with the win. It's all on soybean. He called them out - they read his post. And then they decided to embarrass soybean. Your team just got in the path of their righteous fury.

To say Uthoff has a green light is pretty much an understatement...it's more emerald with diamond cluster light. He's got great range with the 3 ball, but even that was kind of crazy...but he was feeling it. Fran's done a great job with making sure our length is positioned in our zone where the 3's are typically being launched. When you have Uhl, Uthoff, and Jok on the wings...all guys who are pretty quick and are really long...they disrupt shooters and change trajectory. It's really crazy how many threes we have blocked this year. That being said, MSU had open looks last night and for some reason...just couldn't hit anything.

I have to tell you, I honestly thought Izzo would make this game as close to a football game as he could, and still use a round ball to score...but you didn't out-physical us per usual...which shocked me. Either you don't have the typical physical push you around team, or we are on par with you in that regard. I think it's the latter.

That one was nutty good, even for JU this season. I would've like to have had a camera on Fran when that one went up--guessing there was the stereotypical coach "no, no, no....YES!!".
I enjoy watching Sparty play--it's been a long time since seeing someone as fast with the ball as Tum Tum/Lourawls/Dustyspringfield.

It was totally a foul that wasn't called, but I loved the replay showing Woody with a handful of jersey and an arm-bar going for a rebound! The attitude we need many times.

As far as Iowa's defense, I think part of why it's become so good is between the ears. 3 of our starting seniors are academic all-B1G. I think that's been overlooked. If smarts has some physical tools to work with, give it few years and they'll generally figure it out. Then, the other senior is Michigan-bred Anthony Clemmons, who's as tough as they come.

The way that game went last night, when Wagner pulled up from Half court as time ran out in the first half, I thought it was going in!

Some nights ya have it and others ya don't. Iowa played well and got MSU out of their rhythm, but that was not Sparty's best last night. Iowa's defense did disrupt them and Spartys communication was lacking on defense, but for Iowa to go in there and win by that much, was very impressive.

I have to say it was good to see Clemmons finally get a couple of W's vs his old teammates and in front of his hometown. The kid is a great example, if you stick to the grind and don't pout when things arent going your way, you will be successful. He could of left a couple of seasons ago and I myself was down on him as a player. The kid has come back and is putting together a good senior year. W/out him I seriously think we struggle to win some games this year. He is a competitor who plays hard nose defense.

Yeah I'd like to see what happened when the ball was in the air. Guessing Valentine gave Woody and pretty good shove to the back before Woody wrestled the ball into his hands. B1G toughness.

Good to have you Spartan, I have a quick question for you though. How would you assess Valentine's performance the past two games compared to pre-injury?

those 7 final four banners look really nice.,,I love how MSU used the logo thing for each year ...what an amazing feat....jealousy is a terrible thing...

you don't win big time like MSU with a coach that doesn't know what he is doing...no one will recognize your team come BTT time & NCAA...Davis is one hell of a talent...IZZO will make the adjustments..he always does.

my son-in-law is a MSU grad..got his masters from there as well...we made an agreement not to talk to each other after MSU/IOWA games..actually at my request...reason is obvious. The only time he called was in Licks 1st year..when we won like 48-36 in Carver...36 points...IZZO was not too pleased..anyway when he called he said..thats not fair you went into a shot clock stall..:p..that was funny...

I wouldn't want to be playing you guys here on out...maybe we will meet again come BTT ..seems it happens a lot.

Do you think the new "freedom of movement" emphasis has caused problems for MSU. Izzo has always coached, and his teams played such aggressive defense...I wondered if they were having trouble adjusting to this.
