Congratulations Clones...a perfect conference season

The crazy thing is that Iowa St. played many of these top teams tough and couldn't find a way to win a single one.

Then again... they couldn't beat the really crappy teams in the league either.

There is some good talent on this ISU squad and even a blind squirrel finds a nut sometimes. It is almost unbelievable that Prom could not win a couple of games in their league.

I imagine it's pretty tough to get your team fired up to play the Fightn Prohms. Those close games were likely the result of disinterested opponents.

Hard to think the transfer portal will be kind to ISU this spring/summer.

Anyone remember all the excitement from Clone fans last year when they picked up a few late transfers?

What a shitshow.

Hoiberg has a huge buyout. That ain't happenin'
Nebraska might be willing to waive that as they are ready to usher him to the door because they think they can do better. If their basketball fan is anything like their football fans then they’re probably expecting Phil Jackson or Popovich.

I doubt that.

1. He's only been there 2 years
2. Husker fans don't give a sheet about basketball, they'd rather suck at that and spend the money on football

Addendum: What makes anybody thing Hoiberg is suddenly going to create a miracle...simply by going back to Ames? Please. Ames...Lincoln... not a lot of difference.

He's the mayor and, next to Orr, was as responsible for Hilton magic as much as anyone.
For the sake of Iowa hoops I like him in Lincoln.

don't think as long as Jamie is still there it would ever happen

Even if there was a mutual "we'll just tear up the contract" agreement, ISMoo would have to come up with some serious $$ to pay Freddie. He has one of the biggest contracts in D1 hoops...roughly $25 over 7 years plus incentives and retention bonuses (he gets $1M extra this year, just for hanging around). Pollard would have to offer something similar. Add in Prohm's buyout and that's a $30+M commitment for ISU. Not sure their budget can handle that along with Campbell's deal.

What would be hilarious is, if Pollard went all in and did it...then Freddie couldn't recreate his previous success in Ames. That's entirely possible. BUT...as others have mentioned, word is that Fred didn't care for Pollard. I doubt he's going back to Ames.

Look on the bright side clown fans. Isu was only 4 games back of finishing 9th in the Texas Ten.

Good thing CyTwins and his minions had isu as a “fringe tournament team”.

Buy outs are only in play if they get fired not if they quit, hence the buying out the remainder of the contract

Yes, buyout was the wrong term. There are also clauses requiring Fred to pay Nebraska if he leaves early...which is a much smaller amount. If he leaves after this season he'd owe them $2M. After next season it's $1.5.

Still, ISU would have to pony up similar money to what Nebraska is paying him plus the $5M Prohm buyout, plus the $2M to Nebraska. That's a chunk of change.
