Peter Jok is an unconscious shooter, period. RDM and White were not. Uthoff was streaky and kind of a headcase. Jok is anything but a headcase. I also like how he's driving more, trying to get to the hoop and get fouled, and he's money from the stripe.
Leadership is overrated in basketball. It's about trusting your teammates and the system. With freshmen, they don't know what they don't know, so they try too hard to make a big play when they should calm down and work together.
As I posted before, I think Fran will realize that Kriener is a great defensive anchor down low and put him in as the 5. That alone will improve our defensive cohesion and identity. Our ball pressure is too weak for us to play denial defense - one breach and everyone is out of position.
FT shooting will be bad, but that's a young team for you. At least we're not dealing with Mike Gessell having the yips from the FT line as a senior. That was frustrating esp bc he had the ball in late game situations. I'm pretty confident that C Williams will step up his game (we need that desperately) and Bohannon will calm down a bit.
In short, Jok is amazing, Cook is great, and better play at the 1 and 5 will happen.
