A message to my conservative friends…

Haven't learned much since 2016. It might have been better to have lost in 2020.
I was thinking about this, if when Donald Trump won in 2016 you'd have told Democrats Trump will have two terms. Would you like them to be consecutive or separated by 4 years. I think most would say give him the two terms get over with!

Also I think if Biden was the nominee in 2016 we would have never had Trump.

tarrifs are awesome and they are the right answer. they worked in his first term. they worked with the boston tea party.

vance is awesome and the future looks bright with vance and tulsi and many others
In what way did tariff's work in the first term? The tariffs caused China to react by imposing tariffs on U.S. agricultural exports, which would have significantly damaged the U.S. farm economy but for the fact that the administration then paid large direct payments to U.S. farmers to offset the loss of export revenue. So the tariffs only "worked" because the administration wrote checks that your children and grandchildren to pay in order to pay off the farmers that the tariffs would have damaged.

That's what I told my lefty daughter...this should result in the Dems being in much better shape in four years. They just have to take the opportunity.
News flash, the DNC won't take the opportunity. One of the most piss poor run national organizations that I can think of. 2016 should have taught them that they can't just run a pre-determined candidate in the presidential election. It should have taught them that they have to campaign hard in the swing states. It should have taught them that they need a moderate platform that reaches out to the unaffiliated voters, focusing on economic good. It should have taught them that they can't trust the polls.

What happened?
  1. Kamala was pre-determined to be the candidate when Biden dropped out. Nobody else was given a chance.
  2. Kamala barely did any interviews and campaigns were more rallies with the DNC base than anything else.
  3. What was Kamala's platform? "Trump is bad." That only resonates so much with independent voters. I guess it is better than "Her time" that Hillary ran under.
  4. All the polls pointed to a relatively easy victory for Kamala and she and the media believed them. Yet the polls still don't know how to account for Trump.

As for Donald, he's going to say many dumb things. He's going to do many dumb things. But maybe someone can get into his ear and get him to do some good for his legacy. Somebody should get into his ear and convince him to double-down on military aid helping Ukraine winning the war in the next 12 months. He'd likely be seen as a national hero over there. As the man who's life is based around building his money and his ego, what would be better than that?

most people think they actually DID lose in 2020 and last night was the proof. they faked it and had fake votes and put in a fake prez and VP. ok, not most people. a lot of people.
A lot of stupid people. It was a lie which was started and perpetuated amongst the highest echelons of the fascist party.

lol, Trump will stay in office until he dies. He’s told us this.
If the dems ran any white male they would have won, we are who we are.
I'm not sure why people think he will leave. He's said he's doing a third term. He lead a coup. The man will do whatever it takes to stay in office.

Dude, grow up. Putin owns Trump. Trump will do whatever it takes to give P Ukraine.

They’ll be dismissed. Judge Merchan has until the 12th to decide since SCOTUS decided on Presidential immunity.
I don't think it will. He would have already dismissed the charges if it were that cut and dry.

Worse than Kamala is hard to fathom. Wether it's her San Francisco radical liberal backround, Her record as VP and before that.

Her campaign, while admitadley short on time was very bad. Focused on things that didn't move the needle. No excuses and what, got stomped in a revolution of democracy love it or hate it.

Next dem will do better

There will be no next Dem. Trump isn't leaving until he dies.

Well, I now know what Moses felt like when he descended from Mt. Sinai to see the Israelites worshiping other gods. No wonder he was pissed. We now have a President who, as a convicted felon, can't even vote himself. What will happen with regards to his sentencing for his 34 felonies and what happens to his other 3 more serious indictments?
You seem like a decent guy who is grossly uninformed...

1. You aren't considered a "convicted" felon until after sentencing, and he has not been sentenced yet. You might say that is a bit of playing semantics but I'm sure you would want to be accurate.
2. You should look into the appeal... I doubt you'll open me.... that has been heard by the NY State Appellate Court. The lawyer for the state didn't even finish her opening statement before she was interrupted by 2 judges concerned with over-reach by Letitia James. It seemingly ended up with the lawyers hoping not to get sanctioned. It did not go well.
3. You probably think all those women in Virginia really were witches... they had a trial right? Or all those blacks in Mississippi? Trials for them too...

But don't let facts get in the way of your TDS.

My sincerest hope is Donald Trump is indeed good for America and that we stop sending billions of dollars overseas, the border can be more secure, and that inflation will level out while working people’s incomes improve. I will be rooting for America to be much better because of Donald Trump’s leadership regardless of how much I despise him as a human being.

With that said, you guys better be right about Trump. Because if it’s the total disaster/shit show I think it’s going to be, the next president will probably be someone even worse than Kamala. I was honestly hoping Kamala would trounce Trump last night so the GOP would have to reinvent itself and put out a respectable candidate I could get behind in 2028. That’s probably not going to happen now.

Congratulations to conservatives like @Gus is dead and others I have a lot in common with (this is not an olive branch to pieces of shit in the MAGA idiot brigade who will wake up glib this morning but still pieces of shit). Hope Trump does well for the country.

He's hoping. I'm hoping the country can survive four more years of this. Pulling Ukraine support will be the dumbest thing ever, although I hope and pray enough damage has been done to russia for the rest of Europe to survive.

I don't think anyone can be sure of anything, but I'm fairly confident that his policies will not be as radical as many on the left are putting in their Ads at any rate. He used to be a Pro-Choice Democrat and the first time he ran for President the argument during the Caucuses was whether he was a true conservative or not. So that's kind of his starting point I think.

I'm a strong Ukraine supporter also so that part concerns me most, but I think he will support reasonable changes to immigration reform, remove regulations to help the economy (especially in the energy sector but also many others) and work towards a more efficient government. Obviously he will address some concerns (ahem) with bias in the FBI, DHS and other departments and rightly so, as long as he doesn't just replace it with bias the other direction.

I think environmentalists / climate change champions will not like his policies probably. But again I think if we look at each one in isolation there are valid arguments for his changes (won't get into climate change here) in the sense that you can support some positive climate change measures but not all of them, as many of them will have minimal impact but are very costly.

COVID-19 mandated lockdowns ended in August of 2020 months before Biden even took office. What on earth would have gone differently under Trump is my question. IMO Reagan, Clinton, etc. would have been screwed. Post COVID was the Kobayashi Maru of political hand-offs.
Blue states didn’t open up when the mandates ended. Look at unemployment rates in Blue vs. Red states during Covid and you’ll see that Red states led the economic recovery. Biden didn’t encourage reopening. He didn’t encourage reopening our schools. He did encourage vaccine mandates which cost thousands their jobs.

Ukraine cannot win a war against Russia. A stalemate is the best outcome.

Trump doesn't want to just pull support. He wants to stop the war. He will likely try to negotiate peace between Russia and Ukraine. Once there is a ceasefire, he will stop the support going to them. But Trump doesn't want to give them more money either, so he has every incentive to end the war quickly.

Like I said, the best outcome would have been Kamala win in a landslide and the GOP reinvents itself and runs a respectable candidate in 2028 I could get behind.

Won’t happen now.
I very much did not want Kamala to win. She was a horrible candidate with horrible policies. She was not going to be good for the country. I am very happy with the current group of Republicans. I am hopeful for what they want to do. I think a lot of research will be released in the next 4 years that will prove a lot of the ideas of the left were complete lies. Hopefully this will bring most of you back to reality.
