I don't have anything against cook but I'm not overly disappointed. I wish him well and thanks for choosing the hawks.
That’s not true. Cook hasn’t made a decision and he can declare, go to the combine, hire an agent, and still come back and play for Iowa. Like most Iowa reporters, Rob Howe is an idiot.

Tyler Cook doesn’t have NBA talent. There, I said it. He should finish up at Iowa and look into playing in a foreign league.
He's 6'9'' and doesn't have the abilities of a Guard, which in the NBA there are guys 6'9'' and taller who can play guard.....and play it well.
Who cares? Seriously? Dude's a brick layer from 3 feet out and can't dribble or control the ball. Not exactly what the NBA is looking for. Leave already.

This is like wishing Akrum Wadley would leave back he had eligibility. Let's hope the most athletic guy Fran has recruited and will likely every recruit leaves so we can be less athletic and have nobody who can finish at the rim. Wouldn't it be nice if Fran "missed" on guys like Cook so even if their games never developed significantly they are still P5 athletes vs. the cast of characters Fran has run through the program only to transfer to mid-major obscurity.
Is it public information whether a kid is enrolled at Iowa? My understanding he dropped all of his classes a couple days ago. May just be a bad rumor.
Some fans seem eager to denigrate our leading scorer,rebounder, percentage shooting leader,etc and push him out the door. Next season when we are struggling same fans will rip on Fran for lack of athletic recruits. These fans are short sighted and sad.
Agreed. I can’t believe how some fans treat certain players of the school they allegedly root for. Some of the comments made here and on other social media sites make it pretty easy to see why TC would want to GTFO of Iowa City. Pretty poor treatment of a kid that represented Iowa well.
Nailed it. It's easy to spot the people who are disappointed in their own lives and project that onto kids who have done nothing but serve the fans and be great representatives of the university. Same thing happened with the ISU kids on some Facebook posts I saw. Just terrible, terrible people.

And last year the Iowa media also reported he was definitely leaving to the NBA...……… or transferring to Missouri.
Say what you want about Cook's jump shot, handles etc....teams had to prepare for him and tailor their defensive scheme around him. If he is gone, Iowa just got a heck of a lot easier to scheme for.

Agreed. If he moves on, best of luck to him. We are all fans, and fans sometimes forget they are in college, not pros. Dude brought a level of athleticism and presence Iowa sorely lacked. Yes, there were/are holes in his game, but Iowa does not get anywhere near to the season it had without him. His opening 8 minutes of the second half against Tennessee singehandedly got Iowa back in the game. "Well, why doesn't he play like that all the time?" people will say. Probably because it's darn near impossible for anyone to.
I've never understood the level of criticism from an element of the fan base for him on here. Does it really make people feel better by yelling "he'll never play in the NBA" and stuff much worse questioning his character. Super fans we have.
I think the problem most have with cook is everyone knows he can't wait to leave iowa anyway. That and he focused on improving his game to help his nba stock not to help the iowa hawkeys.
I think Tyler would be making the right decision for him by leaving. The most he can be in the NBA is a role player. He's a project with some potential but a lot to clean up to round out his game. He is not realistically capable of becoming an NBA star, coming back will not increase his stock because he will have the same limitations and shortcomings next year. He's best off in the draft as a 21 year old 2nd round project than a 22 year old project.
TC was a great Hawkeye. Fran needs to continue to recruit this level of talent. (March Madness every year!) Good Luck TC and make lots of $$$$! But I think you will need a passport to play pro BB.
Honestly, I would call Tyler a recruiting success! Out of HS he could have gone many places so kudos for whoever persuaded him to Iowa. I hope there are more--
i dont remember the MEDIA saying anything about cook going to missouri . that was a couple numb nuts on this site .
Settle down buddy. He could very well return, but its not going to be to Iowa City.
Those first 8 minutes were like watching the light bulb come on for him, then now I'm left wondering if he came back would he understand that's how he can play no matter what now when he brings effort.
Tyler isn't likely to get any better or worse if he stays at Iowa. Neither will his draft stock. If his goal is to be a professional, go for it. He's been an excellent player for the Hawks and just as important, represented the University well. I wish him well!
The status of a student’s enrollment at Iowa (classes dropped, taken pass/fail, etc) is not public information and if leaked by a U of I employee (access to student records is very limited and tightly monitored) could be grounds for dismissal. So, this rumor is hard to buy.
