How about Zach McCabe? For that matter Bohannon gets beat up pretty bad too on a regular basis.
What about finishing a College degree for Free ?? Get some more exposure, work hard and go for what you really want.........an NBA roster.

Yep there are a lot of choices. Just like the people that like to say that players never improve under Fran. There are plenty of choices proving that wrong as well. People just make stuff up.
I hope he stays also. If he does we return all 5 starters and add 5 additional players to the mix. Seems like if we hang onto everybody else, Iowa has its best chance it's had in a while for an extremely great season.
There's just that small problem of the late season collapse that has plagued this team for the past few years. Avoid that and this past season could have been "extremely great". No indication they'll avoid it next year with or without Cook.
The only reason why it can't be proven is because there hasn't been and won't ever be a white guy from Iowa who was or ever will be good enough to play professionally as an underclassman.
Tyler Cook will be making more money than 99% of this board by the end of next year as a 21 year old. He will be able to afford college on his own if he wants to go back. You all should save your condescension and blow it out your ass.

Fran’s record during the 2nd half of B1G play is better than the 1st half even if we include BTT results.
When the next white kid from Iowa declares early, we'll test out my observation. Since that will be never if history is any indication, my point stands.
Replace Cook with JBo/Gatens/Uthoff/Weiskamp/etc in this situation and yall would be lining up to suck on their balls.... and Cook is the better NBA prospect than the whole lot.

I think BeepBeep gets it right. I live in Warriors country, and Tyler is very similar to role players like Kevon Looney and Jordan Bell. Unfortunately for Tyler, there aren't a lot of these spots and he might spend time bouncing between the NBA and the G-league, much like Caleb Swanigan (who has an outside shot) is doing with the Kings.

That only happened because Woodbury is the 2nd goofiest basketball player to ever live. Kurt Rambis is the GOAT in that respect.
Don't kid yourself. Everyone had a love/hate relationship with Woody. There is a certain segment of this fanbase that hates Tyler Cook with a passion and it's disgusting to me. It just so happens to be the same people that love to hate on Noah Fant and Amani Jones.

You are putting words in my mouth. Some of the criticisms of TC are fair on the floor. Some, whether it be here, other social media, are in real life are not based in fact. I’m not saying all the criticisms have bias, but certain comments made about TC have made me question the motive behind them. I’m not asking anyone to agree. It’s my opinion and I stand by it 100%.
Imagine what Tyler Cook would have done to Denison if he grew up in Carroll. Would have been fun to watch him abuse all those 5'11, buck 80 4-men in the high school ranks of our state.
TC would have left as one of the greatest Iowa HS basketball players of all-time and would embarrassingly dunk all over everyone at any level in this state, including every old man's league that you guys participate on WED nights at the middle school gym.

If his career is going to be basketball, there is a shelf life to that, and you have to decide which route to take to get paid the most. Cook is making the right call. He can always come back to college to finish up his degree, or he could probably take some classes online in Europe to finish up.
