13-18 million each for Tristan Thompson, Larry Nance Jr & Jordan Clarkson —- wow

Tyler Cook has proven plenty of people wrong by making an NBA roster to start this season after leaving Iowa with a year of eligibility remaining.

Cook did not get into the game Wednesday night for the Cleveland Cavaliers in a 94-85 loss at Orlando.

Just being on a team is significant for the undrafted free agent from St. Louis.

He’s the only former Iowa player currently in the league.

Cook spent most of the preseason with the Denver Nuggets, with whom he’d signed a two-way contract. He inked the same deal with Cleveland, coached by John Beilein, who recruited Cook to the Wolverines.

Cook sticking in the NBA is good for him and for the Iowa program.

I did not see him making a roster so good for him. Hopefully he can stick for a little while. Sounds like Beilein’s familiarity with him really helped.

There have been comments about him playing the ‘5’ as an undersized ‘5’. I think this speaks to what many of us thought when he played here and that was given his freak athleticism, he should focus on being Reggie Evans II. Be a tremendous rebounder and defender first to hang his hat on.

Against the Bucks tonight he got in during garbage time at the end. Cook 2 minutes. 1-2 from the field. 2 pts.

Way to go,TC!
So many hawk fans doubted his talent
Some still insist we are better without him
The game is played on hardwood not spreadsheets.

Heck of an accomplishment. No matter what happens with his career, he can say he scored a bucket in an NBA game. And the NBA is probably the hardest professional sport to break into. I think Uthoff and Marble are the only two other Hawks who played this century that can say the same thing. Though White has probably made the most money.

Jared Reiner scored 54 points in parts of a couple seasons. Guy Rucker played 3 games but never scored.

I think the fact that Beilein likes TC a lot helps:)

Herky T Hawk, you must be young. You left off 2 of the best from Iowa that actually played together - Freddy Brown and John Johnson. Both played (well) over 10 years I think.

Those guys we're playing in the NBA in the 21st century? I'm guessing you didn't fully understand my post which was in response to someone else mentioning players from this century.

Anytime in 2000 IS in the 21st century.
Historians started counting up years at year 1 and a century is 100 years. So the last year of the century is the one that ends in 00. The 21st century didn’t technically begin until Jan 1 2001. But nobody treats it that way, they start it in 2000.

Anyway we’ve wasted too many posts on something that isn’t basketball. Back on topic. Hooray for Tyler. Go make us proud and earn some more playing time.
