Cyclone women take a hit

Classic gin blossom.
The American entertainer of vaudeville and the movies, W.C. Fields (1880-1946), had rosacea with rhinophyma (ryno-fee-ma).

If it is not effectively treated, rosacea can cause rhinophyma (literally, growth of the nose). With rhinophyma, the nose is bulbous, enlarged and red and there may also be thick bumps on the lower half of the nose and nearby on the cheeks. Rhinophyma occurs mainly in men.

W.C. Fields' lifestyle -- he had a well-earned reputation for imbibing -- did not cause his rosacea but it probably didn't help much. Avoiding food and drink (such as alcoholic beverages) that cause flushing of the face is recommended in rosacea to help minimize the enlargement of blood vessels in the skin that is part of the condition. https://www.medicinenet.com/wc_fields_nose/ask.htm

If Iowa has a spot available after the year, they should absolutely look at her. She may immediately be the 2nd best player on our team. Clark is a rare talent and we have a chance to do something special. Surround her with the best available players.

However, I’ve also wondered about Fennelly’s bright red nose and if any connection to drinking alcohol?
And he has an Irish name! There I added something! But there is some sort of skin condition that can cause a red nose and not by
drinking..

This would be an absolute punch in the gut for their fans. Actually that’s an understatement. When Feuerbach transfered to Iowa, there was something like a 50 PAGE thread about it on CF in a couple of days. Total meltdown. Lots of longtime fans coming out of the woodwork to express complete devastation. No exaggeration.

FWIW ISU fans say she has been a die hard cyclone for a long time and would never consider us. But then again maybe KF being here might look enticing.

But IMO whether she considers Iowa or not would come down to what kind of impact she’d want. If she wants to start day one, Iowa would not be an ideal destination since the spots at 1-3 are completely locked up and we have depth at 1 and 2. If she is more of a Sara Scalia type, Iowa would look more appealing for sure.

That all said, I think Bluder will look to the portal in the same exact way she did last year at this time. Our biggest weakness was depth at the 1, so she found a reserve 1. I’d say next year our only potential vulnerability would be at the 4 (depending on how LB envisions O’Grady, Edigar and Stuelke’s next steps) and FWIW I also think O’Grady and Edigar are our biggest outbound transfer risks.

Hurts clown fans so much that when confronted with the reality of where isu and Iowa were in the 1980’s they realize how petty their arguments are so their best move is to run off and hide from it.
Few things are more amusing (and when it come to clones....there are many) than how they hang out on the Iowa boards while simultaneously saying they're not obsessed with the whole "little brother" identity.

Complete...lack of self-awareness. It hasn't changed in 40+ years. You'd have to look long and hard to find a group of people (much less a group of sports fans) that reinforces their stereotype so consistently.

The Iowa hate on CF is still alive and growing.
It's hilarious just watching the inferiority complex manifest itself.
Outside of winning a weak Big12 conference tourney, the last month of WBB under Fennelly has been like watching a train wreck in slow motion.

Awesome stuff.

Imagine being an ISU fan and listening to the ENTIRE COUNTRY slobbering over CC and the Lady Hawks?

This has to be absolutely killing them.

BTW...looking at the current ISU team...the 5/6 still on the roster...is there anybody worth poaching for next season's run?

I wonder if Brian Joens was watching the Iowa/Louisville game from the comfort of his padded cell?

Bluder's success again this year must be killing that stupid prick.

Every woman at ISU is over 200 lbs? Bill Fennelly is a drunk? ISU is a community college? Need I keep going?

Take the chew out of your mouth and change your 1980 Hayden Fry shirt. Definition of TaVern Hawk.

Hypocrite is wearing an ANF sticker when your school has zero to do with Ag or farming.
Solid approach………
Waaaah… don’t like that you called it a community college or an ag school

Uses ‘Tavern Hawk’

Is that hypocrisy or irony…. Ruling?

Just read Donarski's twitter statement regarding her departure...
What she DIDN'T say explains why she left.
Wow.

Just my observation watching ISU women I can see how Fennelly would be difficult to play for. He appears on the sidelines to be pretty aggressive with negative comments and "freezing" players out of the rotation.

Don't see the statement anywhere, but let me take a guess... Thanks ISU, the fans and her teammates but no mention of her coach?

EDIT: Yep

I'm guessing the preferential treatment given to Brian's daughters was a factor as well.

Seems pretty clear there are big, big problems with the coaching staff.

there's definitely a big problem with someone here....
The wbb mod on CF went on a rant about Bluder and negative recruiting vs Fennelly when Bluder was at Drake.

I'm guessing Bluder knew stuff about Bill Fennelly and now it might be more widely known and explains the downward spiral in Ames.

Meltdown at Ames Community College continues.
The latest departure had both parents as ISU grads. Huge RED FLAG.
Too bad.

I've told anyone that would listen a couple years ago that Fennelly was long past his prime. Now he's just a angry old drunk that no one wants to play for.
People can see why Fennelly and Brian Joens are meant for each other.
At this point, with a contract until 2027, he's only there so his son and DIL have a job.

Emily Ryan next? Don't know if there's any truth to the rumor that BillyBoy just offered schollies to the ISU women's intramural starters?

I hope Bluder lays a hundy on them next season.
And the Hawk fans scream "Carver West"!

Update: Looks like the Fightin Fennellys are down to FIVE scholarship players left on the roster.

Emily Ryan posted on social that she'll be staying at ISU regardless. Fritz leaving is certainly a hit to the morale of Cyclone fans though. Donarsky (best player + ISU's first McD AA) + Fritz (1st off the bench this year, expected to take a huge jump) is just tough to swallow.

Hm what was this? I missed it...

Interesting that things are so bad that players have to actually announce they're staying.

I'd be willing to bet someone on the coaching staff asked her to post that as a show of support.

Wouldn't be surprised. Similar to MD -- last year it was pretty obvious Frese asked Benzan to post her love for Frese. Frese also went on a damage control PR tour after all the departures, becoming super active on Twitter and what not. Wouldn't be surprised if Fennelly does the same.

Looks like Billy2's wife is leading the social media campaign.

The rumor has always been that Fennelly told recruits to come to Iowa State because we have "family values." An unspoken way of saying, don't go to Iowa/Drake as they have gay coaches.
Oh right, sorry, yeah I saw that/have heard it before.

I was referring to "Bluder knew stuff about Bill Fennelly and now it might be more widely known and explains the downward spiral in Ames" -- is this referring to the same issue or something else?

Donarski was a Top 10 ESPN player coming into Iowa State and was a point guard. Bill moved her to the 2 allowing Emily Ryan to be the teams point guard. Maybe that is the position she wants to get back too, Indiana could use a point guard too so that is one team to watch.

I'd also bet Marissa Mosely at Wisconsin has already made contact too, might be a long shot but still a possibility since its her home state.
UW's problem is not getting players like her out of high school from the state. I don't follow the women's team but it doesn't appear that Mosely is the answer either.

There might be a phone call to Brenda Frese real soon. Or Kim Mulkey.

I've been talking to a couple of big ISU fans and it's amazing how open Fennely's drinking is talked about. And, the weirdness of his daughter-in-law.
They got issues. Sucks that the kids are being affected. How long does Pollard let this fester?

With the loss of Texas and Oklahoma, the Big12 will sink further down the rabbit hole. At best, the conference still trails SEC/ACC/B1G/Pac12.

No big name, established HC is leaving for the Big12. None

Any new coach is coming from a mid major as in Drake level.

I got ripped by 515Clone for mentioned the alcoholic thing. Another poster suggested some medical condition creating the nose/red face.

Sometimes the answer really is the obvious one.

I expect I'll see Fennelly at youth baseball again this summer. I should ask him, huh?

What a dumpster fire. No way their coach lasts past next year if he doesn't reload with high level portal transfers and put up a good record. Highly doubtful that happens, it seems.

Clown site indicated he's under contract to 2027.

Pollard got the $$$ to can him? That might be the only way BF survives this.
