The prospect of a coming recruiting bonanza for Iowa WBB has arisen repeatedly in recent times, but it bears repeating that so far there has been little, if any, recruiting bump from the Caitlin Clark era. To begin with, Hannah Stuelke committed to Iowa before Clark did, so no impact there. The '23 class, after the Ava Jones' injury, is nothing to get excited about, with 1 non-top 100 recruit with a marginal offer list. Iowa struck out on its higher rated targets.
Two of the three commitments in the '24 class (Levin, Stremlow) are typical Bluder level recruits, with little interest from the better recruiting programs. The post commitment from Oregon, Ava Heiden, is a top 50 recruit, who perhaps was influenced by Clark, but seems more influenced by Gustafson/Czinano/Jan Jensen. She had interest from some higher level recruiting schools, and is a good get for Iowa. It may also have helped that she has family from Iowa (as did Addison O'Grady), but there are only so many of those players.
Finally, the best that Iowa could do in the portal last off-season was Molly Davis, who helps in limited minutes, but is hardly evidence of a positive Caitlin Clark recruiting effect.
