Dakich done on ESPN?

You think she is at fault here? for saying go at in in a pool, and she is a swimmer.......
Did Dakich know she is a swimmer? She could have just as easily said I challenge you to some laps in the pool. I've attended at least 50 sexual harrasment awareness seminars in my career for compliance. If the conversation was in person at a job site instead of on social media it would be her ass.

You googled "ESPN politics." That's like anti-vaxxers conducting their online research.

Provide some examples of them pushing a far left political agenda, please. This shouldn't be that hard.
Well unless they changed their tune which would be extremely hard to believe, just keep ESPN on all day and watch the commercials. It's CNN with some Sports mixed in. No thanks.

Bob Iger thought so

I thought ESPN finally had grasped as much when Iger hired Pitaro to replace John Skipper, who’d become more a ‘60s hippie than a sports network president. Not long ago, in the fall of 2018, Iger communicated a sea change from his perch as Disney chief executive when he told the Hollywood Reporter: “There’s been a big debate about whether ESPN should be focused more on what happens on the field of sport than what happens in terms of where sports is societally or politically. And Jimmy felt that the pendulum may have swung a little bit too far away from the field. And I happen to believe he was right.”
This is where common sense comes into play, which clearly eludes many. For most of my youth if I had the TV on in my house watching it or in the background, it was on ESPN at all times for years. You couldn't pay me enough to do that now, and that's been MANY years ago. Geez, I wonder what changed?

Was it the guy that wanted to hear about and watch Sports and only Sports every free moment he has? Ahhh, ummmm, Nope. They got away from Sports and I got away from them. When a game comes on I'll watch the game, until one of their commercial "messages" comes on, the channel is changed until it's over.

Get a load of this guy, he turns the channels on commercials! Wow good for you! I recommend you do that on any program during games, it makes for a better experience.

That’s funny😂why not call me strange!👍

Chris Berman did have some great nicknames. On of my favorite was the pitcher Al”Senorita dance a little” Leiter. (Springsteen song).

I think it got to be a badge of honor with the athletes. I think it might have been Nettles, the 3rd baseman, who was pissed because Berman hadn’t come up with a nickname for him, so he started a campaign to call Berman “Ethel Merman” Berman just to pressure him into getting his own nickname.

I wish I could remember some more

Dakich most likely didn't know she was a swimmer and that she wanted a race. Clearly his response is out of context with her inferred/Implied meaning but to slant his response as verbal rape is a stretch. Go at it can be a lot of things. She should have been more clear. This an issue of a conversation lost in translation and hardly was taken to the level of sexual harrasment. Dakich could just as easily make the case she sexual harrassed him. It should not be a career ending issue at all.
She wished she was sexually harassed. Buzzes girlfriend Woof!

Yes

When they were going back and forth on Twitter she commented about how much she swims, dont remember if it was laps or meters that she listed. Her tweets are protected now so I cannot see them.

Interested to see how you continue to try and spin this as her fault.

"Dakich questioned whether the teachers understood athletics. In response, Dr. Johanna Mellis, who lists herself as a teacher, oral historian and co-host of The End of Sport podcast, which also includes Kalman-Lamb, in her Twitter bio, appeared to tweet a challenge for a swimming competition:

"Dan you want to play in the “arena”? Let’s level the playing field a bit: I used to swim upwards of 10,000 yards in practice sometimes. I’ve done 10x100s butterfly, 10x400IMs, and one time 10x1000 freestyles for time. It’s brutal, but yeah let’s go at it in the pool"

I find Dakich to be an obnoxious a-hole. He also makes frequent insightful comments that show his knowledge of the game.
Personally, I find his dickish manner irritating enough that whatever he brings on the understanding side of the game doesn't offset that. I'm fine with not having to listen to him call games anymore strictly on his manner and delivery alone.

He absolutely had some great ones, but the whole schtick, IMO, made him become a caricature of himself--he was more about the sideshow than the one he was supposed to be covering. Again, just my opinion.
I see him doing Car Shield commercials now

I watch ESPN constantly. I'd love to know these political agendas they are forcing upon myself and others.

What, specifically, are the political agendas they're advancing?
You are do memorized by the likes of CNN it flows right past you.

Stephen A. goes off on Trump. Why is nobody asking Brady about his support of Trump. Trump telling squad member to go back to her home country. Lebron and China buying/making his shoes is ok. Blah, blah blah. Right past a lot of you.

Who was released for expressing their political views? I know sexual harassment their have been some.

In an everyday conversation that seems like a comment that gets no attention. When you have a huge company attached to your success and name..... that is when social media becomes an issue. It is not about you is a good phrase for a lot of people to remember.
social media has become very dangerous, especially in today's climate

i cringe sometimes when i see what people post on Facebook or Twitter because I fear that the cancel culture mob is gonna come for them or their job

and hell, anybody on social media better go back & make sure you have not posted any writings or pictures that might be considered offensive to anyone. Hell, that Carson guy who raised $3M for the UI Children's Hospital was not even exempt; remember when the Des Moines Register reporter went back a few years and found a Twitter post that would be considered offensive?

That is the thing. If you said something stupid in passing. It gets forgotten. A post, tweet, picture etc. makes it hard to forget.

Again I see this as a case of lost in translation. Do you want to play in the arena and let's go at it in the pool don't immediately imply a race. She could have been making innuendo or talking about fighting. Her implication is unclear and clearly Dakich didn't grasp her inferrence.

Dakich's response wasn't overtly sexual and could just as easily be interpreted as fighting with a woman in public would lead to divorce.

I think it's very difficult to make a case that Dakich initiated the sexual harrasment. By his response and his allusion to divorce he clearly believed that she was suggesting something improper whether that suggestion was sex or a fight.

You are either trolling or a complete moron. Hopefully, it is trolling.

These back and forth Twitter battles/arguments just seem foolish. And the fact that it is all done in public view makes it very dangerous for a person like Dan, who can get a little heated in his "arguments." Dan may have deleted the tweets but you know there were people who took screen shots of what he tweeted. And now, of course, cancel culture strikes, where the mob DEMANDS that he be fired.

It reminds me of what is going on in Washington DC; politicians tweet at each other all the time, in public view, instead of actually picking up the phone & talking to each other

Imagine that; people having an actual conversation over the phone or in person and NOT over Twitter.

It's moronic to simply believe the dude was confused or took something out of context. I don't think so. But leave it to a liberal to immediately resort to name calling.

You went from questioning whether Dakich knew she was a swimmer to now saying he just took it out of context or was confused.

As for the name calling, I just call them as I see it.

Wrong

You may want to take notes in your 51st class.

I read a version of the news story that didn't have the full quote. That doesn't make me a moron.

And to suggest Dakich took her response out of context is a logical assessment given his response and defensive posture, the mention of divorce. Clearly he thought what she was suggesting was improper or why would he immediately feel the need to defend his marriage. It's a textbook defensive posture.

So you didnt know the whole story but put blame on the lady?

Seems moronic to me.

Wouldn't we really be better off by focusing on the words and not the "interpretation". I doubt if DD knew she was a swimmer. Almost everyone I know uses the word "bitching" to either describe a Camaro or more generally complaining.

Years ago I was sitting on a bench in the US Courthouse. Couldn't bring in cells in those days so I had nothing from which to tell the time. I leaned over to the woman sitting on the same bench and asked "if she had the time". The chick went crazy, yelling about a sexual proposition and sexual harassment in the US Courthouse and "sexual intimidation". Turned out it was the other lawyer in the case, whom I'd never met or seen. From Minneapolis.

She carried the bitching on in the hearing. The federal judge finally asked me what I'd said-cuz this crazy woman couldn't seem to land on my actual words. I replied "I asked her if she had the time". Judge asked if "time" was the last word in my sentence. I said yes. Asked the woman if I said anything like "time for what" or "just the time". She admitted just "the time". The judge finally cut her off by saying, correctly, "Mr. Sporer was just asking you what time it was." Had many other encounters where people misconstrued my meaning. I'm guessing many others here have seen or heard of similar responses to clearly inoffensive language. Its making workplace conversation almost impossible.

Its cancel culture boys. This is one of the first weapons of the post modern left. You are driven from employment and actually society if your words are "interpreted" as sexist, racist, inciting violence (irony from the most violent extremists since Woodrow Wilson gave birth the the nation of the KKK and anarchists of the early 20th century). Especially the doxxing part-that is straight out of the post modern left playbook-page ****ing one!

It also surrenders the conversation to the most hyper sensitive and irrational members of the community. I personally like Dakich but this would apply to anyone. These ****ing bullies and tyrants won't stop until we stop them. If they fire Dakich, ESPN's advertisers should be attacked through boycotts and email campaigns. The golden rule is still the golden rule and we, the buyers, are more important than the Ivy League educated gender non specific karen wringing their hands in HR or PR. ESPN is one of the worst offenders in this persecution and I only watch it when Iowa is playing there.

I might have found a new crusade to keep me alive for another year.
Is this satire? Sarcasm?
