Dale is one player we could certainly use right now. His team leading 45% from 3 pointland would be just what the doctor ordered! His experience would be another quality we could use. That missed, his playing time will be even more important next year, when we go from experienced to inexperienced.

Does anyone know how Dale's surgery went? Or how his recovery is doing?

I do not know if Tom or anyone from TOS has posted on his recovery. But there should be some news on that by now.

There was a short mention awhile back right after the surgery that Jones was feeling great. Looks like once again one of our secret weapons (the UIHC) comes through!!!

I hope you are right! I was thinking that his treatment here, with the UIHC and the training staff of Hawkeye Athletics, would be significantly greater than the treatment received while he was playing for the Texas junior college program. The surgical team and the therapy can't be beat.

Jones's JC Head coach said that Jones sometimes wandered out to the perimeter too much and did not get many rebounds as he could have gotten. I believe Jones was working very hard to break those tenacities. Jones also showed he could play defense which is a common problem with most JuCos who tend to focus on the stats.

Medical info on a player is usually hush-hush and very confidential. I would imagine that Jones medical status will be more publicly known by the PTL season. Jones will most likely get a 6th year if he is able to go, IMO. But athletes with multiple ACL tears are more likely to experience another ACL tear.

Really hoping for the best recovery for Jones and he is ready to go next year. He could easily be that missing 3 pt and scoring gap with Jarrod's exit. His 3 shot really appears to me as lethal as Peter's is and if he does bring his long reach on the inside scoring and rebounding, this team will be much better than what folks might think, I believe one of the coaches was saying prior to his injury that Dale in practice was one of the best rebounders and really getting after it.

McCaffery said on one of his call-in shows that the surgery went very well and Jones was already into his rehab and doing well.

Dale could be a very important player next year, as the new big guys get accustomed to playing at the college level. Seems likely to get a 6th year, based on prior cases, but I think that is still undetermined. Given our shortage of scholarships, it could be a positive or a negative, depending on who Iowa could get in next year's recruiting class.
