Big day for the B1G today!

Really hoping that OSU can hold off Maryland. Since Iowa's path to continued play requires a B1G tournament championship, I'm resolved to rooting for scenarios which make the path as feasible as possible.

If Iowa wins and OSU wins, Iowa would have two chances to beat either Michigan/Maryland tomorrow. If they can win one game on Saturday, they'd be lined up to play OSU/Minnesota/Nebraska in the final game. OSU would have two chances to beat either Minnesota or Nebraska. Thus, if Iowa were fortunate enough to make it to Sunday and ended up playing either Minnesota or Nebraska, both of those teams will necessarily have to burn through their pitching staffs to win a DH on Saturday.

First pitch of the day in about 18 minutes . . . game on!

Maryland still has their Sat/Sun starters available. Started a bullpen guy last night and he went 6 IP. OSU still has Berhenn their Friday guy available. They've thrown their Sat/Sun guys so far. Their closer Magno might be all used up before it's all said and done.

Obviously Iowa goes with Judkins and Baumann today if we do two. You throw the kitchen sink at game one today. Then Baumann tomorrow and IF you can make it to Sunday without using him I say you start Grant Leonard.

OSU going with their closer again...

Threw 107 pitches Saturday
Threw Wednesday
Threw some last night before the delay
Now back out there

Back to back Ks from OSU's dominant lefty. OSU escapes the 8th.

Onto T9 with Buckeyes up 3-2.

EDIT: Irrelevant observation: Maryland changed their uniforms from what they were wearing yesterday.

B9.
Leadoff walk. Maryland trying to rally.

EDIT #1: Sac Bunt. One out. Runner on second base.
EDIT #2: K. Two outs. Runner on second base.

Game. #7 OSU wins 3-2. They'll have two chances to win one game on Saturday to advance to the final game on Sunday.

Judkins already facing trouble in B1. And he's thrown 22 pitches. Missing a lot of fastballs up in the zone. That generally tells me that he's amped and overthrowing. Hoping he gets through this (just did as I type this) and settles in.

To T2. 0-0.

Two out rally for the Good Guys. 1-0 in T2.

EDIT: Bases now juiced with 2 outs. Whelan coming to the plate. Oh, how I'd love to see a gap shot to clear the bases.

4-1 Nebraska...obviously an ugly inning for Iowa. It could have been A LOT worse though.

Sad thing too is none of the Nebraska balls are what Id consider hard hit.

At least to me . . . it was pretty apparent that Judkins didn't have it right from the start. Everything was up. Couldn't hit spots. Nebraska did a great job of working favorable counts and taking advantage of hitters' counts.

In contrast, in T3, Nebraska's pitcher worked ahead in the count. Make a big difference.

This is stunning. Hawk pitchers just cannot throw the ball across the plate.

Schwellenbach ripped the double to left. Third baseman would have had to make a really good play on it, but that ball was hit hard.

Kudos to the Huskers for not chasing. If the opponent won't throw it over the plate, don't swing.

Agreed. Good game plan implemented by Nebraska thus far. You have to make your opponent throw strikes. McDonald was out ahead of Indiana's hitters quite a bit on Wednesday. Judkins pitching out of a hole all day today.
