Debbie loses 5 players to the portal...so far

Well, that can't be happening. Multiple Neb posters have assured us that He'll be a cornholer all 4 years....
Not everything on the internet is real.

That said, the issue isn't losing players to the portal. The issue is how many and how good the players you lose to the portal are. If the players that you lose to the portal are buried on the depth chart, that is normal attrition (or at least the new normal). But if the players that you are losing are starters or major contributors, that is what keeps your program from improving. Defensively, Nebraska is losing a lot of front 7 players, some of whom were significant contributors.

Very nice. The more the merrier.

Large portal defections is here to stay - especially with the football powers. We better get used to it.
I look at it that Iowa needs to take advantage of it. Pascuzzi is 3rd team at most behind Ostrenga and now Oertwerth.

Iowa's culture is such that the top 44 players at each position will come back. The backups get some playing time and they are waiting to start here, not some other place.

Look at how many players have come back for an extra year. They love playing at Iowa.

I can see 3rd and 4th stringers transferring out and that is ok. Our team needs to get portal players to fill holes in the starting lineup and to get younger guys who want to play here.

Me... and every lil debbie fan trying to scrape up their excuses for another failed year and their futile attempts at a return to relevance.
No, literally just you. I'm the only Husker fan that you're talking to. You guys need to become better posters, fast.

None of that will be sustainable anymore if you're trying to win this year. RS freshmen are going to be asked to leave in droves. Not just 3rd year players who haven't cracked the 2 deep or something. It's a totally different game. It's definitely not for the better, but that 105 man rule means you have to be pretty cut-throat to run a big program.

I hate to agree with you but I will here, and add Iowa’s current coach is not a “cut-throat” guy. He’s an old school loyalty type of man, for better or worse.

Nebraska consistently recruits the dumbest athletes possible. I think it's actually by design. Just completely and consistently tone deaf.

Backup running back and non-handshaking captain for the Iowa who tried losing the game (like so many have succeeded in the past) by fumbling in own territory in the last minute only to have the ball miraculously bounce right back to him goes into the portal only to remove his name a couple days later. Simple formality, right? Or maybe he even feels a little shame/embarrassment? Nope, it's a "I'm back home"!! instagram story:

As much as I hate you guys, this is so true. Everyone is losing guys. We have lost more at this point.
Most Hawkeye "football" fans aren't very informed from what I've gathered over the years. I bet that less than half of the people who post on your free board are even aware of this rule change.

You're most likely wrong on that speculation. Most fans that I know are well aware of the new roster limitation.

You guys need to become better FOOTBALL PLAYERS. Fast... or... wait til next year! 😁
I'm not on the team. You need to go down to Lincoln and tell the guys on the team this. They probably could use the advice.

Fans who know this wouldn't have knee-jerk reactions about another team losing players if they knew that they were also going to have to make dramatic cuts to their roster. Or they ignore this and hate for another team overrides common sense. I guess that it could be that.

He also has missed being in a bowl game 4 times in 26 years.

You guys have missed a bowl game 4 times in the last 5 years, lol!

Maybe you guys can end the year with a winning record this year. Cool
4 out of 5? Pretty sure they haven't bowled since 2016. It was the longest running P4 streak.

I'd rather he stay at Nebraska because he appears to have been infected by the loser virus.

So teams are cutting players that contribute on game day? Interesting approach
