Decatur verbals to tOSU

I've only seen Decatur twice, but am very impressed... he's extremely quick. In ~ 1.5 min he had a TF over Teske, and also had a close win over highly ranked Iowa recruit Teasdale at WNO.

Would love to see this OH stud follow Marinelli's path and end up changing his mind. Probably not likely, plus Iowa needs to look for help at other weights.

Decatur is about as explosive as they get and scores points in bunches! However, almost every match I have seen him in he has faded considerably the longer it lasted. If he can get in shape for a full 6-7 minutes he could be a monster.

I gotta agree with this...I think Teasdale is the better prospect of the two. Difference in their WNO match was some over aggression by Gavin right off the bat. That being said, I'd have been stoked to get either one at PSU!

I'll take Teasdale all day long in college!

I agree 100% on this. While Teasdale may have lost that WNO match, most who watched it came away believing Gavin was the superior wrestler and he was VERY CLEARLY not as physically developed.

He's definitely a BA. The tf over Teske was freestyle...while impressive, I think that it would be closer if they wrestled folkstyle. I was surprised that he beat Teasdale.

Coming from another recent tOSU commit, Kaleb Romero tweeted this in response to the Decatur news...

One more left for the triple threat @Jordandecatur10 @Carrchamp

Maybe if Carr commits too then it'll take a little heat off the PSU slush fund investigation for a bit ;)

I see through your PSU tricks, trying to throw the heat off of your slush fund by moving attention to the tOSU slush fund. I think the slush funds must be some sort of mutual slush fund, set up between tOSU and PSU in a conspiracy to ensure that Iowa misses out on at least 83% of the top 10 p4p recruits per class!

I had no idea he had a twin brother. Anyone know anything about it?

From what I have been told by those that know:
Jordan lives to wrestle. He is at every offseason tournament possible. Pure love of the sport.
Jacob ONLY wrestles during the season, likes other sports better. Yet, still makes it to the state semi's as a freshman.

Another impressive bit about Decataur is that is he is just a Junior. If he had just hung with Teasdale who is World Class (Junior level, not Cadet level anymore) that would've been impressive, the fact that he managed to hang on and beat Gavin is really impressive. Jordan's lungs, despite being pre-season were able to hold off a late charge by Teasdale. Gavin likely learned a lesson about going for broke in the first, but lots of positive signs from both wrestlers in this matchup. tOSU and Iowa are both getting great ones. Can't wait for the rematch.

For those who may not be aware, Brady and Dylan Koontz have very strong Iowa ties. Their dad, who happens to be a very close friend of mine, grew up next door to me in Iowa City and is a lifelong Hawk fan. Wrestled at Central College and married an Iowa City native. Brady and Dylan are back in Iowa City fairly regularly, as their grandma still lives there. Both are Fargo AA's as well as state champs. They project to 125 (probably Brady) and 133 (probably Dylan). Kind of a head-scratcher that they're unranked, IMO, but they have a chance to earn it at the next level. Both boys especially love Greco and have trained extensively with Greco world champ Dennis Hall, Greco world champ Aghasi Manukyan, Olympian Ben Provisor, and many others. They'll probably shoot for Greco World and Olympic teams after they finish at tOSU.

Thought some of you might enjoy some background on them, given their Iowa/Iowa City ties, and that you might find it interesting to follow their college and post-collegiate careers. Wonderful young men -- humble, polite, respectful, extremely hard-working, very bright, and tough as nails on the mat. I think they flew under the radar a bit. Ryan got himself a couple of good ones -- absolutely prototypical character guys.
