Iowa's Sophomore class of 2027 is quite good. I believe when its all said and done you will have 10ish in the top 100 which is a lot for an Iowa class. I could see all of these kids in the top 50 by the time they graduate: Dawson Youngblut, Hayden Schwabb, Gavin Landers, Nico DeSalvo, Brayden Koester, Mac Crosson and Maximus Dhabolt. Other top 100 guys from that class could be Broedy Hendricks(he could climb the rankings as well) Gage Spurgeon, Matt Prine, Ethan Christoffer, and Weston Porter. I'm sure there are some that I'm missing. I think a lot of these kids end up at UNI bc of the immortals connection.
Edit: Before Spooner makes some dick comment, I'm not saying all these kids are D1 national champs and/or AA's. I'm not saying Iowa should recruit all of these kids. What I am saying is, it's a good class and I have no doubt it will produce some respectable D1 talent. I would not be surprised if this class produced 4-6 D1 AA's.

If you take California out as an outlier, I’d love to see a regression analysis of these data with some EPA water and air quality data.It is hard to be reliant on Iowa high school talent these days, because it is no longer top tier.
Using @smalls103 Big Board data from 2013 - 2024 this is what the distribution of Top 10 (green) and Next 10 (red) talent looks like.
If you want to win titles, you need top 20 kids. And there just aren't enough of those coming out of Iowa anymore.
Nope. I love Doug. I'd be proud to have him represent the U of I. But nope.
We will see. A lot changes in two years, as kids mature.
That and I don't know these kids personally so I don't know their work ethic, bad habits, mental toughness, heart, coachability, and all the other intangibles that make up a great wrestler.
I havent seen much on state wide hammers and where they are going. Im More on east side of state with bett kids of knight to oklahoma and keoster iowa state. I know flo has a list but not many iowa kids on them compared to past years if im looking right.
There aren't any in 2025 or 2026 other than Ross. Other than him, there's no one ranked higher than the 80s on the Big Board, including Knight and Koester. Calling them hammers is overstating it considerably.
