Delay of game/punt

100% of Iowa fans knew Kirk was going to punt if they didn’t jump offside. Only problem is that Missouri knew that as well. So really 100% of everyone knew this. They all could have saved some time if they had gathered at the LOS and talked it out.

“Look, this is where we pretend to go for it, and you pretend like you believe we’ll go for it, but you won’t move and then we’ll take delay of game. Agreed?”

Save like 30 seconds of clock time for everyone involved.

I hate when teams do that motion thing before the hard count also. You can 100% tell by the dumbass acting the motion man is doing they aren’t snapping it. Instead how about get in tight like you’re going to sneak it or something and hard count ha.

Proved to be the correct call.

Gave Iowa a chance to win. Those chances got complicated, which is another story.

But punting was the correct call regardless of what happened afterwards
Not trying to score points is always the best chance to win. I don’t know why the rest of you guys can’t see this like @eyesofhawk BF and KF. You guys are just dumb!

Thats the problem. Any coach with a pulse knows exactly what Iowa is going to do on every play. Iowa doesn't fool anyone or add any wrinkles.

I think it is a "damned if you do, and damned if you don't " for KF.

If they go for it on 4th down and don't get it, he puts the D in a bad position (especially given the fact they had trouble stopping Mizzou).

If he punts, he enrages an already pissed fan base.

I'm pretty sure he isn't influenced by what the fans think he should do. KF is what he is, conservative. Punting did give him the best chance to win/tie the game, and it almost worked.

Having said that, what game you are playing needs to (in my opinion) be a factor. A regular season game = punt. Conference title game = punt. CFP game = punt. Music City Bowl = go for it. Also the distance matters. 2 yards? Go for it.

I'm sure KF really cares what I think though 🤔

Kirk wanted it to be more thrilling when Missouri’s rather unaccomplished kicker hit his own 56 yard field goal to win the game.

He has never gone for it in that scenario his entire tenure.
