After watching the democrats last night, it is clear that they put opposing Trump ahead of our country. They refused to clap for a cancer kid receiving an honorary secret service badge, that is as low as it gets. If you are a democrat, you should demand better from your congressmen and women.

This country needs a sane opposition to the republican party. I love what Trump is doing, but with support and power, there comes the possibility to swing too far in the opposite direction. I want democrats to fight trump on some things like abortion, medicaid, social security, etc. But America also needs democrats to support the good things Trump does. You don't have to like Trump, but if he is exposing and prosecuting child abusers who visited Epstein island, then you should support that.

If you complain about everything Trump does, just because he is Trump, then your voice will lose all meaning. If the democratic party refuses to work with Trump on even the most basic and common sense ideas, then your party will crumble. There will no longer be any opposition to keep Trump honest. Write to your democratic congress man/woman and ask them to do better.

I suppose this is why you need a healthy democratic party. I posted a different thread calling for dems to get their shit together so they can be a reasonable opposition to Trump and republicans.

FTR, Trump is not stealing money, threatening seniors and the poor. He has cut aid to the poorest countries because dems were using these NGOs to funnel money into far left democrat projects and sneaking illegal immigrants into the country. There will be some poor people who do not receive aid because dems were corrupt.

I believe Trump will create peace with Russia and the middle east. Trump is in talks to get this done, but it will get done. Dems also funded the war in Ukraine and were not willing to make a deal, so you don't have a lot of room to talk.

I thought Biden did a very bad job during his last SOTU speech. He came off as a very angry man. I also don't remember specifics as to if the republicans refused to clap for everything. If they refused to clap for non-partisan things, then I would criticize them.

I see a different republican party today than what we had 8 years ago. We are going in a different direction than the traditional republican party. I hope for reasonable opposition from both sides. But I know that refusing to clap for a cancer kid is not the direction I want to country to go. Lets start a new path forward.

I think Trump is the disrupter, he will undo a lot of the bad things Biden did and he will fix a lot of things that most politicians are afraid to touch. He doesn't care if people like him because he doesn't have need the money after his presidency is over. He realized that a certain percent of the country have TDS and they will never support him no matter what he does. He even stated this in his speech last night.

After Trump is gone, the republicans will put in a more likeable person that can appeal to both sides of the aisle. Hopefully Trump will have fixed some of the more unpopular issues, so we can work on uniting the country. That is my hope at least.

Trump is an old school businessman. He does not subscribe to the political correctness for better or for worse. He is going to call it the way he sees it even if you don't agree with him. He is also an entertainer, he uses hyperbolic language and that is just his style. He gives a lot of truth in his speeches, but there is going to be 10-20% that is made up on the spot or maybe is sort of correct but not 100% correct.

I believe his intentions are to make this country better, stop the war, bring business back to the USA. He is probably a narcissist, but that is what allows him to be charged with nearly a hundred felonies and still believe he is right.

He is also a natural leader, only a strong leader gets shot at a rally and then gets up and yell Fight, Fight, Fight. This is the thing you will read about in history books and people will be in awe of his courage and determination. History will forget about many of the stupid things he said but they will remember how he acted the day he got shot. This is not unique to Trump, this happens every day at funerals, people remember the good things, not the times you were mistreated.

Trump has a long history of saying the same message. You can go back to the 1980s and listen to talks he had where he was saying the same things he says in his rallies and he even uses the same speech patterns and hyperbolic nature.

Trump is also a family man. He has well adjusted kids who are successful and appear to have their shit together. Even Joy Reid remarked in 2021 that she would rather have Donald Trump's children babysit her kids than Hunter Biden, pointing to Hunter Biden's personal and legal controversies, especially around his past struggles and business dealings.

You don't have to like Trump and you don't have to vote republican, but Trump is your president. He is not a dictator, he is not a Nazi, he is not Hitler. He will do some good things that even you will appreciate. So I encourage you to support the good things he does and take a stand up to the things you don't agree with. But don't listen to only left wing news sources. They will only give you hatred. Balance it out with some of your own verifying what they say and maybe even listen to some right wing sources to balance out what you hear.

No, I just don't believe that it always has to be Democrats that fix everything Republicans break. I believe we need to hold Republicans accountable for their behavior because if we don't, the standard has then been changed. Democrats are acting to the standard Republicans set. If this upsets you, then speak up louder the first time it happens. It's not both sides, it's Republicans breaking the system and then everyone, for some reason, not holding them accountable for that. There are consequences for everything.

BTW: The way you fix this is for Republicans to regulate their own side when this happens again. So, this is where we are for at least 4 years. The next time a Democrat is President and those jackasses want to act like clowns Republicans need to come down hard on them. If they do that, Democrats won't misbehave either, and if they do then those members will be held accountable.
