DeSantis

Agree....by "complicated" I mean how do you address the situation? No easy answers to this IMO...

You don't address it,.. Florida real estate is going to become very expensive, and many people won't be able to afford it anymore.

Thanks, I just wonder why if people are so concerned about the harmful impact of drag shows there is no outrage when children can attend movies with their parents that contain more sexual and violent content than would ever happen during a drag show.

Don't even have to go to a movie, there's more sexual content on television. Hell, watch any typical WWE show - you'll get far more sexual innuendo, along with doses of witchcraft, the occult, some racism, all blended together with a couple of hours of violence.

Did you watch the clip above?

Do you believe it's the government's job to override a parents choice as to what type of entertainment they bring their kids to?
I'm thinking about it. In the mean time, I'll ask you a question. Is there a limit to what would be acceptable to you? Should parents be able to watch porn with their children if they choose?

There are already laws on the books establishing age restrictions for watching porn, drinking alcohol, smoking, etc. in public settings. If that's what you're referring to, that's a moot point. None of us can control what happens within the privacy of one's home. Again, there are laws on the books that addresses that.

Yes. Have you ever watched the WWE?

Personally I think they are both kind of messed up to be exposing children too.

The only difference is one is for rednecks who think sex and violence is ok for 6 year Olds as long as the sex is straight. The other is for smug liberals who think they are better and more tolerant than everyone else because they expose their children to drag at an early age.

Are you suggesting that it's not illegal to expose your children to porn in the privacy of your home?

No which is why I clearly stated that there are laws to address that.

But let's be clear. The issue here is not kids watching porn. That was a false equivalency brought up to try to excuse DeSantis' actions. The issue is drag shows. I was just flipping through the channels and found the Three Stooges on AMC where the three of them were performing in drag. The show was originally aired in 1946. Should AMC be removed from the air because of this?

The only difference is we smug liberals aren't attempting to keep the "rednecks" from letting their children watch WWE and our political leaders aren't using their campaigns to wage war against the dangers of professional wrestling.

That in no way was to excuse DeSantis' actions. It was brought up to see if there is a limit and where that limit is.

I am almost certain the 3 stooges drag was not sexual whereas at least some but not necessarily all of these shows most certainly have been.

It was maybe a year ago or so there was a show discussed on here in which kids stuffed money down the performer's underwear.

Honestly maybe they should. I am honestly wondering if the desensitization of children towards violence is how we end up with so many bullies. Because I have idea why a child would want to physically harm people for being different from them. My children don't watch that kind of stuff and have been unfailing kind to other children who I know would be targets of bullies at their age.

Bullying is nothing new, we as a society have realized how harmful it can be and have focused more on recognizing and stopping it. The photo of Jerry Jones as a 14 year old in a group of other white students heckling black students is an example of the extreme bullying of the past. Matthew Shephard is another example of extreme bullying in our recent past. There are many others.

Personally, I think young people are much more tolerant of differences than we were in our youth. (I'm 62) When I was in school kids with learning problems or physical disabilities were educated behind closed doors and not exposed to the rest of us. This lack of interaction made name calling and physical assaults on those "outcast" children more likely in the real world. In my school no one would have dared coming out as gay because they would have been ostracized and anyone associated with them would have as well.

Kids today have been exposed to differences from an early age. In general they have had a chance to see them as people not "others." They are better than we were.

Nothing quite like a smug puritanical religious doofus smugly calling others smug.

I love and respect you, @Hoosierhawkeye , but, damn, you are one silly fučker, sometimes.

Exactly. And motherfuçkers like DeSantis want to turn the clock back and have the “others” go back to being treated as such. All on bullshit fearmongering. Fućk him and all who nod along as he spews his bullshit.

Would you be okay with shutting down movie theaters that allow minors to attend R rated movies with their parents?
No...

But I have no problem calling some parents...bad parents. You bring a 8 years old into a R rated movie...you suck as a parent.

Generally speaking...

No, but I would be okay with strip clubs being shut down for allowing children in, a much more applicable comparison.

If you truly believe allowing children into drag shows is the "future", than you are a sick human being and need to stay away from children.

But it’s cool to sit kids on some dude’s lap just because he’s wearing a red fat suit. You’re so narrow and scared and dumb. Dumb dipshit.

You think drag shows involve removing clothes? That would defeat the point of drag. Have you ever been to a drag show?

I'm not even sure how to respond to your absolute lunacy. I loose IQ points every time I read one of your posts.

Only a child molester sympathizer, would associate sitting on someone's lap with child abuse. Maybe you need to seek help.
