Desperate Disney: CEO Says Company Will 'Quiet the Noise' of Woke Culture Push Amid Nearly $200 Billion Loss

The business of children's entertainment has little to do with what’s good for kids. It has everything to do with money, followed by the left's narrative. What’s interesting is that, over the last few years, that narrative quietly crawled into the dominant position.

Money took a backseat because companies like Disney were still making plenty of it. That is no longer happening. CEO Bob Iger understands this. It is the reason Disney brought him back, frankly -- to correct course given the financial turmoil Disney finds itself in today. It was prior CEO Bob Chapek who called Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis to express his disapproval of the so-called "Don't Say Gay" bill, which actually protects young children from being exposed to the LGBT agenda and other inappropriate sexual material at school. That phenomenal mistake drew DeSantis' ire and placed Disney at the epicenter of the culture war, and it ultimately came at the cost of the company's self-governing status in Florida.

The return of Iger was the only solution. With Disney having suffered a 56 percent market cap plunge resulting in losses of nearly $200 billion, Iger must answer to investors. Disney's "not-at-all-secret gay agenda" obviously isn't paying dividends or bolstering the bottom line. The new strategy, Iger told investors at a Tuesday meeting, is to "quiet the noise" and pull out of the culture war. “Our primary mission needs to be to entertain ... and to have a positive impact on the world,” Iger said during the meeting, according to Reuters. “I’m very serious about that. It should not be agenda-driven." The line Iger is walking is extremely thin. Flush with woke executives, writers and stars, the entertainment industry in which Disney is a leading player is attached at the hip to the LGBT movement. But Iger knows Disney can't survive on its current trajectory. He has no choice but to change course, at least temporarily, and rely on the public's short memory to get the Mouse House back on solid financial ground.

Pretty words, to be sure, but I'll believe it when I don't see it.

I imagine they'll make a few small changes, but inevitably will sneak it back in before too long. If not, he'll find himself no longer CEO again.

The world is going to get more and more Woke. You can either get with the times or spend the rest of your life mad online.
Or just ignore it like 99.99% of the population.

Or do you see old men feeling like a woman being allowed to walk into the girls locker room and men competing against women in sports?

Good luck.

Surely it's not an actual $200 Billion loss in terms of net profit. I think they're just referring to market cap.

Nonetheless the public has spoken, and families simply don't have the same agenda as the LGBTQIA++ activists.

Noteworthy is that there's a growing voice WITHIN the gay community saying "WE DON'T WANT THIS!"

Yeah.....no

Most people are happy to.lead their loves quietly. Idiots like you made that impossible and calling everyone bigots isn't going to work any longer. Disney has been in freefall for a couple years and their arrogance and stupidity has brought about this drop in value. It isn't by the way just woke culture although that is a part of it in a big way. It's a contempt for their primary customer base. Or what should be their primary customer base. People with kids and families are the driver of disney and always have been. When disney trust started being a player in the culture war they were done and I am not sure they will get it back. Their executives have also priced their parks and perks at a level that shoves the vast majority of families out of the picture. What once was a family vacation on the expensive side is now truly out of reach for many middle class families and at a price point that makes it clear they are not welcome. Losing that demographic to monetize anything that moves may have things look pretty in the short term but absolutely kills the brand long term. The movies and shows are no longer compelling at all and are simply repacked garbage live action or are cartoons with an agenda to the script. Sorry but that isn't compelling and people have too many options now for content they don't need Disney or Pixar. Disneys arrogance drove Pixar from being a studio that couldn't miss to being just another outlet that is stale.

Iger obviously sees the problem and is trying to unwind the issues but it isn't like he wasn't part of the long slide initially as ceo prior to chapek. Chapek was a true moron but has Iger to thank for being in a position to become ceo in the first place. Iger drove Pixar down after acquiring them. Iger started pricing things in a way that led to the internal finance teams forgetting their primary purpose and customer base. Iger set everything in motion and rode the wave to higher and higher market cap but built the time bomb into the fabric if the company. How do you screw up the most prominent sports channel in ESPN? Thank Iger.

Iger may be able to fix things because he truly is a talented ceo but if he does it will be because he helped bury the bodies and knows where to dig.

Young people drive what's cool in pop culture and are the target audience for most studios. Young people are also more supportive in regards to trans rights, than any other generation. So I wouldn't expect a massive shift towards transphobia in pop culture if I were you.

Bullshit. Those same kids are going to absolutely destroy the left in about 10 years after the trans fad has run its course and those same kids see the destruction trans rights has produced.

The GOP runs against the Twitter left. They don't run on issues. The GOP obsesses over the Twitter left. Lol
What issue exactly is the democrats running on that is so damn great and have a plan to actually pay for it?

$33 Trillion and counting I think.

Screaming compassion with other people’s money might give you a boner but I am more interested in actually paying for the stuff so many desperately want given to them.

Doesn’t take a hero to max out the nation’s credit cards. Which both parties love to do.

I only read the first couple paragraphs from the OP, and stopped reading when it was obvious. It was a very slanted piece.

But I can honestly say, I do not want to live in a country or world where making money is the top priority, let alone the only one.

Deficit hawks are like a cicada. You guys come out of your underground slumber and make annoying sounds every 4-8 years and then conveniently disappear.

Graphs and percentages are fun. I am not defending any party.

The debt went up 64.4% during Obama you want to crown his ass for that go ahead.

Keep it simple. Any new spending? Pass tax increase first or cut other programs first. That should be in constitution unless a war has been declared and passed by a super majority of Congress. People seem to be a lot less “for programs” when they actually have to sacrifice to get them.

Do you have a great Democrat issue that has a funding plan that all Americans can get behind? If so, what is it?

Keep throwing around phobic accusations. That shit isn't working any longer..
All they know how to do is name call. The left fell into that trap with Obama and have never gotten out of the bad habit. Now they wonder why nobody cares what names they call you. They've truly cheapened the meaning in some pretty heavy words..
Neither does the trans-panic stuff the conservatives ran on last year. That's why they moved all in on impeaching Biden.
The response to target, budlight, etc proves you couldn't be more wrong. But by all means, keep campaigning on the premise of "girl dick" being a "real" thing lololol

He's fighting to keep his job at this point. He strategically used chapek as the covid scapegoat but the recent failures are all falling on Eiger's shoulders and he can only blame/fire people like Kennedy to an extent. The walk back is good, and shows the direction the "culture war" is heading. Pendulum swinging back moment.

Proceeds to point out Obama. Omits that Obama led the U.S. through the great recesssion. Also conveniently omits that Trump added $8T to the debt via his tax cuts and lack of any serious spending restraints, even pre-pandemic.

I’m not buying your neutrality.

The truth is never controversial.

The graph is what exactly it is. Spending is the problem. You have your head so far up your tribe’s ass you can even admit anything.

The day the interest on the debt is more than total revenue will be very interesting.

The great Democrat issue with a plan to pay for it seems to be like the quest for the great socialist country the United States should mimic, there isn’t one.

Admit? My admitted truth is that spending and adding to the national debt only become an issue to “conservatives” when a D occupies the White House.

Anything else you post is just white noise.

Well, they addressed infrastructure. They also did something at least for the shift away from fossil fuels. GOP has not done anything about anything since they invaded Iraq.
